Why would the turntable stop turning and the unit stop heating?

hi, there is a micro switch that signals when the door is closed. this tells the machine that it's okay to start the turntable and heating process.. if the micro switch breaks or shorts out then the switch does not send the signal so the machine does not work. hank

Maybe. The presence of metallic material (foil, stainless steel silverware, etc.) in an operating microwave oven creates electric arcs between the foil and the inside wall of the oven. And this can destroy the electric components.

Sharp carousel microwave, Model Number R-1505F, is not running

This is usually caused by either a bad bottom door switch or a loose bottom door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

How do I clean the inside of the microwave? It is

DO NOT use SOS pads! They are made of STEEL WOOL and will remove the protective finish inside the oven cavity. Without the protective coating, the microwave can arc internally and ruin the magnetron. Use the green scrub pads you find in the dish detergent section of your local grocery store. They are considered non-abrasive. Use the green scrub pads along with a non-abrasive cleaner such as Soft-Scrub or 409. Wipe clean with a fresh water and dry with a clean cloth.

Sears Parts Direct has the parts diagrams and many parts for the R-1505 microwave. The glass plate is part 4-3 ($33.99) on this page: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Sharp-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-R1505/0958/0123370/50019999/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .

Without more tests, I can't be completely positive but the turntable motor is the likely problem. That is part 1-4 on the list above. However, it could be a wiring problem with the wiring to the turntable motor.

Partstore.com has many of the parts as well: http://www.partstore.com/Model/Sharp/Sharp/R1505.aspx .

I hope this helps.

Sharp had "issues" with that board (connector cable fail). That was back in 2002. Give them a call and see if they will send you a new control board (part # CPWBF070MRU0) All of the 0's are zeros.
If not, look at that ribbon connector where it's kinked, and you'll see a spot that should be repaired, ie broken wire.

Good luck with the phone call. Refer them to bulletin # MW-166.

The light bulbs ("oven light"

If your waveguide cover is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

It provides critical protection for the magnetron and waveguide.

The inside light (unlike the cooktop lights) is not meant to be user replaceable.

You have to remove the oven from the wall, remove the outside cover, then you'll see the lamp on the right side of the oven in its socket on the air duct near the magnetron.

The installation instructions make this much easier. If you don't still have yours, we have those form a similar model here to help you. I hope they're close enough.
