I have a paloma tankles water heater model #ptg-42pvn i am getting an intermitent error code C4,12. what is the problem?

Copy following link for Rheem-Paloma tankless troubleshoot and error codes:http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.htmlhttp://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-gas-water-heater.html#installIf unit worked before: Maybe bad PC board. Maybe lack of required yearly maintenance.Common error codes can be caused by not following maintenance protocol such as cleaning combustion parts, checking gas pressure, checking venting, and air intake, bleeding gas line etc.Too bad Rheem-Paloma manuals do not show HOW to conduct this maintenance, leaving customer with many unknowns, and no way to oversee that maintenance performed by hired technician is complete, and matches recommended maintenance.Sell unit on ebay, and install tank-type gas water heater. Getting a error code C2 82 on PTG-42PVN / RTG2-42PVN Natural gas indoor

This error code will occur for two reasons:1. The heater has lost its programming and you will need a new programming chip from Rheem. (866) 720-20762. The igniter module is located behind the Printed Circuit board and will need to be relocated.

I have a paloma tankless water heater, ptg-42pvn.

Multiple error codes can mean different things, including bad PC board.
C2 13 might be the oxygen sensor. -0 and no operation indicates bad board, but other things might be notched into same problem like loose connections.
Error codes are starting point for troubleshooting.

Water heater turns off in

I have had a few experiences with the tankless water heaters, the only time they have turned themseves off while in service was due to reduced water pressure (perhaps someone turns on another water source while the shower is running) or, a reduced flow/supply of gas/propane. (Perhaps another appliance is turned on.) In one case for me there was residue on the flame rods/electrodes that was preventing the flame to remain on at the required rate. Good luck :)

My Paloma 42PVN shuts down

You need a 5 gallon bucket and a small sump pump that connects to a garden hose. The hose connects to the inlet of the water heater and and then run a second hose from the hot water outlet into the bucket. Pour in about a gallon of white distilled vinegar. Turn the pump on and let the vinegar run through the heater for 15 minutes. Reverse the hoses and run another 15 minutes. reconnect the heater and test the water flow. You may need to repeat these steps several times to remove enough debris and buildup.
Installing a water softener treatment system will prevent the buildup from occurring so fast, if ever again.
