Stops after 99 seconds

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even something in the Power Supply and it is shutting down for safety reasons. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

Sparp R 930 not heating, turntable not turning

I just repaired mine with the same symptoms. I found that the bottom microswitch on the door (there are 3 switches) was faulty. It started as open, when the door closed, the switch closed (good), but when the door was fully closed the switch was open again. I went to Electronic City with the switch in hand, they found me a duplicate that cost me $2.50. BTW - you must take out the door switch assembly, 3 screws plus wires, in order to work on the switch. Also, put the assembly back in so that the door latches close/open the switches correctly. -jk

This problerm is commonly attributed to a turntable motor that is no longer working. If the model number you posted this question under is correct, the part number for a replacement turntable motor is 46-841666-3. You may also consider replacing the turntable coupler (also called the turntable shaft). The part number is NCPL-A021WRFO. If your existing coupler is still in good shape, there is no need to replace it.

Replacement parts can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com. There is a complete list of helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with parts identification/location.

The most common Fault with this model (and all Micrwavw ovens) is the door swithces need to be replaced. Where the door latches (or catches-tabs) go through the frame of the Microwave there are three or more swtches which are activated so that the microwave won't work if the door is open. If any one of these switche is defective the heating part of the microwave will not activate. I would start by checking/replacing the three switches(don't just replace 1 - replace all). Caution working on any Microwave oven since high voltage (lethal) is present even when unplugged - a capacitor should be discharged b4 work begins.
Let me know if this helped or you require further assistance.

Have a Sharp R930AK microwave.

You probably have a problem with the bottom door switch, or its mount may be loose or damaged.

We have the service / repair manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here for free download to help you.

It will give you safety info, step by step help in disassembly, troubleshooting tips, and part numbers.

You can order parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

If you still have questions, please reply back, otherwise...

Sharp 930 AK Convection/Microwave Oven

When you close the oven door the latches operate a couple of interlock switches that control power. It may be that one of the door switches is bad or out of adjustment. It's also possible that one of the door latches is broken so it's not hitting the switch. There should be two door latches. Are they both there? This oven could be fixed by adjusting or replacing the interlock parts as needed. Because of concerns about microwave leakage from an improper door seal, you should have this oven serviced by a professional.
