All tankless units efeciency is based on the temp of water going in, which their rated between 40-50 degrees on average. Now if you live in the southern part of the country, U.S., thats fine. But if you live in the northern part, it will not work. Im in Vermont and have people in the store about once a month looking for an electric unit, because they dont have gas, And I have to do my best to talk them out of it.

This will be a thermostat or element problem. The red light tells us that you have power to the unit. If you are handy you can test the thermostat and the element with a continuity tester. A voltmeter may also be used. This will tell you where the fault lies.
Hot water has strong organic
It sounds like you need to replace the anode rod on your water heater. They come from the factory with a magnezium rod to slow down electrolytic deteiroation. With the odor you are getting you probably have a high sulphur content,,I think the proper terminology is suspended sulfides,I guess it doesn't matter what you call it it stinks. You can replace the magneziun anode rod with one made out of aluminum to help with this problem. Hope this helps you. Thanks. P.S. anode rod is screwed into the top of the water heater and has a hex head so you can use a box end wrench or socket to remove and reinstall. You can also use hack saw to cut rod to lenght needed to fit. Thank you.

Hi,
The reset button is kicking out because the themostat is not....The reset is a safety switch so to speak. It is there to turn off the element incase the thermostat does not. I nrare situations the reset can go bad and kick at too low of a temperature, but usually not.To check out what is actually happening you will need to replace the t-sta and see what happens or sit there with an electric meter and monitor what happens in what order, very time consuming...
My recommendation would be to just change the t-stat and rest bot at once and you will be good again.
