Want the truth?
I answer Bosch, and other brand water heater questions at fixya.
Never, ever install a tankless water heater unless your wallet is 2" thick and you enjoy nuisance problems that you can occasionally fix yourself plus doing recommended continual maintenance.
Tankless with never pay back, otherwise the news would be filled with stories of people saving money. The only reports of savings comes from sellers of the product. Averages savings on gas bill is $1-8 per month, but all costs are energy.

I cannot recommend a solution to fix the Bosch problem if trained service reps cannot solve problem.
If other product-owners report same problem with that model, then problem is likely related to software and/or PB-board problems, which is same as saying your computer motherboard is no good. And most people know that when a computer motherboard has failures, then the computer is unreliable and should be replaced.
Always research a product before buying.
You can solve most tankless problem yourself, same day, no waiting for parts, Sept 2011, for about $350.

Sell the defect tankless for parts, or get up to $12 per 100 pounds for scrap metal at the recycler.

As you know from reading manual, tankless water heaters require yearly maintenance by trained service technician, or by homeowner. This action would check gas and pressure, venting draft, condensation drain, burner and combustion parts, igniter and-or pilot light, electrical connections, air intake and general condition of plumbing.
Problem you describe does not include error code.

Getting A2 code and hot water shuts off. We do a

Thanks for stopping by:

A2 error on your Bosch water heater means "Fault in the flue gas limiter"

This can be caused by several things:
The gasket on the flue gas collector may be dislodged/leaking.
Check/Remove/Reseat the gasket.
It will not reset until about a two hour cool down.

Also - check the overheat sensor fuse wire - it may have gotten hot and melted the jacket and/or been dis-colored.

Finally - there is a retrofit kit "repair" that can be obtained by calling them directly.

1-800-642-3111 and request the "FLUE GAS LIMITER RETROFIT", Part NO. 8-700-400-032. This should solve many error code situations and get you on your way again.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

What is an A7 code?

Before calling service technician, open following links for Bosch troubleshoot resources:
http://www.boschhotwater.com/HelpfulResources/TechnicalSupport/BoschAquaStarModels/2400ESTechSupport/Troubleshooting/tabid/1295/Default.aspx
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Bosch-Tankless-water-heater.html

Error codes are start-point for troubleshoot.
A7 is temperature sensor fault.
This can be bad wiring, corroded wiring, failed sensor, very high temperatures due to other part failure.
Other cause can be water filter clogged, lime and scale inside heat exchanger, faucet aerators clogged, or combination of problems listed.

Each tankless manual across all manufacturers suggest maintenance schedule: clean water filter monthly, delime heat exchanger yearly, and yearly service of burner and other parts by trained service technician which can address cause of most error codes, and might solve some problems before they happen.

If tankless becomes chronic issue, solve problem yourself, same day, for about $350.

http://www.bosch-climate.us/files/201009031238250.GWH715ES_English_12.2008.pdf

Above are the manuals required to diagnose and service your error code.

EA: No flame ionization detected with water flow.
Verify that all manual gas shut off valves are open. Check gas type. Reset error code and open a water tap to cycle the heater in an effort to purge air on new installations. Cycling hot water tap on and off multiple times may be necessary. If heater still faults with EA error code, have a licensed gas technician properly purge air out of the gas line leading to the water heater. Check three wire connections to ignition group on the lower front of the heat exchanger are secure. Check gas pressure. Check venting specifications are met. Improper venting may cause premature failure of the flame sensor rod. Check that the minimum power fan speed has been adjusted to the proper value. Observe inside the viewing window of the heat exchanger when a hot water tap is opened. Sparking should be followed by a steady blue flame. If flame is unstable or yellow with proper gas pressure.

I have a Bosch Hydropro?

Before calling service technician, open following link for Bosch troubleshoot resources including on-line chat and some manuals. Don't forget, fixya also offers interactive chat to determine exact model number and what you've done so far to repair problem.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html

The problem might be as simple as catching up on maintenance. For example the burner and combustion parts require yearly cleaning according to most tankless and tank-type water heater manuals.

Since you are not getting error code, then problem might be crossover in single handled faucet or defective check valve, or clogged water filter. Link above shows 'no error code' pdf with long list of suspects including water pressure to water heater venting.
The next step would be checking gas pressure, make sure gas valve is turned on, and then check electrical connections.

Add a comment and say what you did to repair water heater so others with same-similar problem have your experience on hand.

I have a bosch system

Consult your owners manual.
http://www.bosch.com.au/content/language1/downloads/70R_UserManual1023.pdf
Heres a new one if you don't have or lost yours. You can't, you got bad advice. tankless system don't have a running pilot light. They operate by detecting water flow and then turning on. Many also state on the lighting instructions to NEVER try and manually light the pilot. Try Bosch tech support. Lowes sells Bosch heaters and they might be able to help you get the support number faster. Hope this helps but please don't go sticking a flame inside there.

Check gas type.
Check three wire connections to ignition group on the lower front of the heat exchanger are secure.
Check venting specifications are met. Improper venting may cause unstable burner flames and loss of flame ionization.
Check that the minimum power fan speed has been adjusted to the proper value.
Check gas pressure.
Check and adjust CO2 readings.

We have the heater for 5 years. From the beginning

All costs are energy.
Problem starts when people install tankless themselves and don't consider specific protocol for air, gas or vent, and then warranty is void or curtailed.
Last week a fully qualified plumber wrote in about his self-installed tankless, and said he KNEW it was installed correctly, and was still getting a problem less than 1 year later.
Every day at fixya there are long lists of unanswered tankless questions, and solution that works for one guy, is a thumb-down from next guy with identical problem because tankless have interrelated parts, and are susceptible to environment.
Tankless are high tech.

That being said,
Problem could be air supply, gas supply, venting, part failure, defect or combination of listed things.
You need 3/4" pipe that runs almost to heater, and gas meter needs to be large enough, incoming air supply needs to be clean and adequate, tankless must be de-limed each year, vent has to meet combustion flow, water pressure and water flow have to be correct, incoming water has to be less than 11 grains hardness.

Best place to start is manual.
http://www.boschhotwater.com/BoschModel1600H/FeaturesandSpecs/tabid/1024/Default.aspx

For example, typical 1600 manual shows troubleshoot starting page 19

Bosch 250 sx ng tankless water heater showing

BOSCH error codes:
http://www.boschhotwater.com/HelpfulResources/TechnicalSupport/BoschAquaStarModels/2400ESTechSupport/Troubleshooting/tabid/1295/Default.aspx

Best place to start is troubleshoot section in manual. Page 24
http://www.boschhotwater.com/Portals/7/TechManuals/250SX_English.pdf

Problems range from air supply, gas supply, venting, part failure or combination of listed things.
Don't forget, tankless require yearly maintenance, outlined in manual, and cannot be exposed to more than 11 grains hardness in water, and should be de-limed each year.

All costs are energy.
I suggest reading entire manual several times, so you are pro about your tankless water heater.
Even with this knowledge, trained service technician will have to be consulted
some day, and tankless should never be installed if factory trained technician not available in area.
