Re the 'falling handle' issue, I think you misunderstood the problem, jgwhomeequip. Unfortunately for me I bought *two* similar Price Pfister faucets and both had the same problem - the water wouldn't stay on and the handle just wouldn't stay up.
I took mine apart looking for something to adjust, fruitlessly. Put it back together and have lived with it like that for ~2 years.

Finally I decided to not be a knucklehead any longer and call the manufacturer. Once I got through to their rep (on a Saturday no less!) she helped me identify the model I had (a 533-50SS, just FYI), and asked me 'what finish'? I replied 'stainless steel' and she promptly replied, 'I'm going to mail you out new lighter handles to replace the ones you have'.

Brilliant! Gold star for PP for standing behind their product well past the warranty for what was apparently a common problem. Replacing the handle will take about 10 seconds per faucet.

I only wish I had got of my a$$ and called them 2 years ago.

If I understand correctly, you have single handled shower faucet.
Normally there is a wait for hot water to arrive at faucet.
But now hot water is already at shower faucet.

Single handled faucets have a mixing area inside valve where hot and cold come together before going into sink.
This mixing valve can have crossover where the hot and cold can pass through to each other even when faucet handle is off. When single handle faucets get old, this can happen.
How it happens:
For example another faucet is turned on inside house, and pressure differential between hot and cold causes hot water at shower handle to pass through mixing area and into cold water line.
So if another faucet has been run, then that lets hot flow to faulty single handled shower faucet.
To confirm this is the problem: turn on other faucet and put ear against shower faucet to listen for moving water.
This condition may also signal there is a water leak.
The problem is not harmful, but will draw cold water into water heater each time, and is energy wasteful.
Replace faucet or have plumber repair problem.

when plumbing knocks and shakes the fittings I never seen it being the fauect causeing it. What it sounds more like that you have a loose pipe in the wall. That will bang every time the water goes on and off.

All single handle faucets are quick shut off which does not help to stop the bang. It makes it worst.

Try at first to turn off the water to the house, then open every fauect in the house and on the out side. I know it sound nuts, but this is what you are doing. when a house is bulit they install an AIR CHAMBER this is no more than a section of pipe 12 to 24 inch long with a cap on the end.

This traps air inside, you can compress air but not water so this acts like a shock absorboer that stops water hammer.

Now turn the water back on and then tirn off all the open fauects. If it stil does it you might have to open a wall and strap down the pipe work. also get some flex water supply lines for the lav faucet this will let the pipe move without making any bang soounds

If you are sure anti-scald adjustment is all the way up,then you have a bad cartridge,you need to replace the cartridge to solve the problem.

There may be 2 pins if under ring the collar has multiple holes.remove pins & unscrew ring... or it could be just stuck from age..

shut off water on feed stop under sink and disassemble faucet and then lubricate all of the "O" rings with silicone lubricant

I love a good puzzle.although I haven't had this one apart,theres a diverter somewhere so when you use sprayer the main shuts off

Make sure the filter screen that is screwed to the spout is clean and in properly. If so there may be debris in the ball control valve. If the faucet has some age on it, I suggest going to Home Depot and getting a rebuild kit. The kit contains disassembly instructions and all new valve parts. Easy fix and HD is a Price dealer. Most faucets have allen screws holding handle on or it may be recessed back in handle or if it is striped out may need to get a bolt extracter you can get them at hardware store pretty cheap.

Check the supply line and valve to see if any dirt or foreign.matter got into the line or valve when you changed out your faucet. if this is not the problem you may have a faulty faucet. You may be able to back flush the faucet with a garden hose by leaving the hot side open, but you will get wet. If you used Teflon tape on the supply line and it is a compression fitting, some of the tape could be blocking the water. for more info go to waterheaterflush.com

It has to be adjusted at the water heater.

1 under the sink turn off both water supplies 2 disconnect the supply lines at the on/off valve EZer than at faucet 3 under sink unscrew the retaining nut(s) 4 on top wiggle or pry the faucet and lift up and remove. 5 know you can replace the spout and don't forget the new O ring that's why it leaks anyway. you really just need the new washer O ring . 6 Reinstall check for leaks 7 caulk around faucet. Back to the basics...did you turn the hot water shutoff back on? Is it a multi-turn shutoff or a 1/4-turn one? If it was old, and multi-turn, the washer could be shot, and it is all clogged. Try disconnecting the hose and see if you can get any flow into a bucket from the connection. There could be some crud caught inside of the cartridge, so you might need to remove it and flush it out. No be sure water is off. Take this apart with still being supplied will cause you a lot of trouble, wife will be very unhappy.

take the old one to the store with you they can match it up.. (home depot... lowes)...

dry rubber "O" ring/ threads on the shaft call a plumber to pull it apart , replace the seal and lubricate it
