How to remove the front of a sunbeam mixer

Thanks Anonymous for your answer back in 2008 regarding how to remove the front fascia by removing the beater eject button. I'm quite handy but spent over an hour trying to find how to remove the chrome front fascia. Even the service manual is just an exploded diagram with no obvious explanation of how to remove it. Many thanks, 13 years later!

Most likely what has happened is that the gears have stripped. The gears inside are plastic but the spindle is metal. When a dough is too heavy and gets caught up in the beaters it tends to eat them. If you take it apart, you will probably find that the gears are shot.
The fix...order new gears, tear down the mixer and replace them. These gears really should have been metal! Check the sunbeam web site for authorized repair places to get your parts.

1. Remove the ejector button...it should pop out with a flat head screw driver. There is a small phillips head screw under it. Take it out.

2. Take out the screws on the bottom. This should allow the face plate on the mixer to slide off, allowing your motor assembly to then be pulled forward.

3. Remove the mounting brackets/shock absorbers...they are rubber u shaped items that hold the motor in. Once that is done, remove the black plastic bracket on the bottom; two phillip head screws. Then unscrew the two long screws underneath. they hold on the speed control electric board as well as the top to the gear box. Pop the silver fasteners on the side of the gear box and you are in. the gears should lift out. put the new ones in and do the whole thing in reverse.

hope this helps.

Beaters Misaligned

If this is one of the later-model Sunbeams, the housing has an upper half and a lower half. By removing the upper half, you can see the motor and the gear train. You will have to take out one of the beater gear posts and reinsert it to align properly. I suggest you look at both gear posts and check for worn or broken teeth. In which case, you will need to replace the bad part[s].

Older model Sunbeams have a gearbox housing that mounts onto the front of the motor housing. When you remove the gearbox housing, you will see the gear posts inside. Check for worn or broken teeth and replace as necessary. To insure proper alignment when reattaching the gearbox housing, align the two gears relative to each other then push the gearbox housing back onto the motor housing. The motor spindle will slightly turn both gearposts simutaneously during this process but will keep the proper alignment. You may have to repeat this process a number of times until you get it right.

Sunbeam Stand Mixer

For whatever reason, Sunbeam must have decided to cut on costs and used a plastic gear to transfer power to the beater. I had my Sunbeam for two years and the plastic gear decided to break. End of mixer. You cannot find a replacement part anywhere. It is the last sunbeam I will buy.

Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage model Tilt mechanism

Theory: Its a screw at the joint that is lose. Problem: If I held mine upside down it released but wouldn't when right side up. Partial solution (in progress): It took me an hour to disassemble the monster as I lost the "NUT" inside the motor - the nut is inside the motor case and attaches the lock-lever and a ground wire to the motor case. It makes some sense since it is a part that can strip out if it has to be tightened too many times by a gorilla - a nut is "easy" (relatively) to replace. Prevents you from having to buy a new one at least. Wish they would engineer this better.Current status: I finally fished it out but have to put it back together now to prove my theory. You cant get into the motor case easily - but I found out that you don't have to get into the motor case if the screw is still semi-attached. I only had to undo the the base to get to the hinge. Then I could tighten the screw. I am an AMATURE - so at your won risk. They make these things so you need to send them in. This most likely seems to be what I have to do now.

The tilt release on my 2350 model will not release

A screw has come loose and is jammed. You need to take bottom cover off and loosen bolts in neck (2). This will seperate neck from motor head and you will find loose screw jammed in tilt section.

The tilt button is not working

Okay, we just figured this out ourselves.
There is a little hole on the neck of the mixer, where the mixer motor meets the neck. While pushing the tilt release button, stick a small screwdriver into the hole (it will not go far) and pry the latch upward. While holding the latch up and the tilt button, have someone pull up on the motor while holding down the base. It might take a little muscle, but after that, the motor will be able to tilt back and forth like it did before it got stuck. If you are the one holding the tilt button and latch, please wach your finger so they don't get pinched when the motor swings up.

How do you remove the

Remove the end cap. It has 3 legs which are hooked UNDER the inside rim of the outer speed dial ring.
These legs look like a one piece plastic part as if it belongs to the outer ring, but it does not.
The end cap legs can be bent inwards, i.e. away from under the speed ring,

Make sure you have good light, so you can see how the legs move.

With a flat screwdriver (fairly wide) bend back (twist the screwdriver gentle) all three to evaluate how strong they are and get a feel.
That also help loosening them.

I recommend to bend back one at a time and put small shims where the screwdriver goes.

While I was able to do it without, it with shims it will be easier to keep the legs inward.
Once you get two legs to come up from under the ring, you can get the entire end cap out.

Had to do this to fix the tilt mechanism. There was an inner nut that had came off the holding bracket. I suspect vibration made it come off , so I put some nail enamel on it after fixing.

The speed ring screws etc. are all accessible once you have the end cap off.

To get to the actual speed control knob, just unscrew the next little part, you'll see and it becomes obvious how to get at the rest.

Hi! i got my sunbeam thru e bay i have noticed

Yes the one that are marketed on line do not measure up the standards as they are bought mainly on the price comparison. so the quality suffers a bit due to which the such issues do come up.
This is due to poor fitting of the unit , the poor switches and the motor assembly.
The speed is changing due to the poor quality of the switch and all what can be done is to keep it in position.
You can also make a complaint to Ebay asking for a replacement or action.
