Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop Questions & Answers
Blank screen, Why won't it open?
Is the hard drive working? Probably infected. Can you plug in an external monitor to rule out hardware issues? If its not hardware, then you need to get a windows "pre-existing environment" or PE disk such as "hirens boot disk" to run minimal programs and clean the system of its infection. an infection has hidden the pathway to the operating system. You can rewrite the pathway in safe mode command prompt. You can do this only after the system is clean of infections. Its commonly called Black screen of death. You will need to use reset the winsock cache.open command prompttype "netsh" then press entertype "winsock" then press entertype "reset" then press enterComputer will then restart to finish cleaning cache.
Where do I activate built-in camera?
Jeanne dubow,
If your system shipped with the Camera installed you should have the WebCam Central Software. Once you click on it the camera should work. If you need to install the WebCam Software you can click the link below.

How to fix Time-of-day clock stopped
Is it actually stopped or does it return to a default time when the laptop is unplugged for a while?
I assume you have already reset the clock, it's located in control panel under Date & Time. You can also set the clock in the BIOS.
If the time does not advance at all, your motherboard will have to be replaced as the clock chip is not replaceable.
If the clock just needs to be reset every time you use the laptop, you might try leaving it plugged in overnight to recharge the clock battery. If that doesn't help, the clock battery is bad.
How to remove virus
First of, your question is a tricky question.
There are many anti-virus programmes on the net. Free and pay. Things to keep in mind is virus come first than the anti-virus comes out. Virus programmers are always looking for weakness in a system and they write a virus for many purposes. Other annoying facts is even if the virus was killed or out of the programme, it is very hard to fix anything they have damaged. So, you have to keep in mind even though you successfully killed a virus you still need to fix damage it has cause. That is why IT people always recommend to back up your data, format your HDD and reinstall windows and the programmes you are using.
Said that, now let's get to the virus problem.
Free anti-viruses:
1. AVG
2. AVAST
3. Avira
4. McFee
Others
1. Norton
2. Microsoft - ForeFront, Security Essential (comes with Windows license version.)
3. Kespersky
The above anti-viruses are good in their own ways. As said before you need fixes, patches to fix the damage. They also have fixes once the virus has been identified. Check out their websites by google searching.
Good luck mate.

Try tapping F8 at boot, select Safe Mode Command Prompt at the menu, type "CHKDSK C: /F/R". May take quite awhile, so be patient.

To get best quality sound you don't need software but a good audio output. The sound quality of digital audio files is excellent. your cheapest option might be a good Bluetooth speaker (30 USD), you need a USB Bluetooth card but they are dirt cheap. Most expensive option is to connect output to a stereo amplifier with professonal speakers. I have thissolution and sounds great.
