You should start up your computer from WinPE, a CD residen simplified Windows operating system. It might help you to make some diagnostics. Is it actually stopped or does it return to a default time when the laptop is unplugged for a while? I assume you have already reset the clock, it's located in control panel under Date & Time. You can also set the clock in the BIOS. If the time does not advance at all, your motherboard will have to be replaced as the clock chip is not replaceable.
