I forgot my password to my dell inspirion mini

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

Inspiron mini keyboard wont work

If you have a desktop keyboard with a usb plug, attach to your laptop and should get you up and running. Try a system restore of your computer before this happened it might get the laptop keyboard going.

ALT Codes

I'm a little late to the game, but...I share James's frustration. Seems like a dumb thing for Dell to economize on. Here's my workaround, for what it's worth.
  1. Open the Windows on-screen keyboard (osk.exe). And, for later ease of use, pin it to your taskbar. (Detailed instructions: click on the Windows start button, type osk.exe in the search box, right-click on the program, select Pin to Taskbar.)
  2. On the virtual keyboard, open Options and select "Turn on the numeric keypad." After saving the setting, press the NumLock button.
  3. Here's the tricky bit: press and hold Alt on your physical keyboard, and then press and hold Fn, again on your physical keyboard. You're holding them both down, right? Keep doing it. Now enter your four-digit code on the virtual (on-screen) keyboard. Release the physical keys. You should have your special character.
Hope it works for you.

My computer, when i turn

It is an indication that the system is not detecting the hard disk drive.
The system has a SSD (Solid State Drive) and you can try to re-seat it

you can get a replacement drive here:

Pxe -e61: media test failure,

Hi,

Welcome to fixya.
-The first thing to check is your boot order in the BIOS.
-Unplug from power, remove battery wait a solid 5 minutes and try again.
-Go into the BIOS and choose the Default settings (press F9 to set defaults then F10 to save and exit).
-It sounds like it can't find a hard drive to boot from so it's looking for the Network to boot from.
-If you have an external CD/DVD drive try to boot your OS from that (after changing the boot order). If it did not work then there is a big chance that the problem is a failed hard drive.

When i turn it on it shows no operating system not

boot record has been corrupted, or the hard drive is toast!....problem is that you have no cd/dvd rom so you cant insert a restore disk....if you wanted to test it yourself you would have to learn to boot from USB(flashdrive)....unless you have a external USB dvd that you can hook up to it to attemot to rebuild the boot record!

My dell mini laptop 910 shows operating system not

HI. Welcome to Fixya.
Its either you havecall your dell to replace your HDD or get a recovery disc from dell and Use the fixmbr command in the Windows XP Recovery Console to repair the MBR of the startup partition.
Warning This command can damage your partition table if a virus is present or if a hardware problem exists. If you use this command, you may create inaccessible partitions. We recommend that you run antivirus software before you use this command. We also recommend that you backup your data before you use this command. If the fixmbr command detects an invalid or non-standard partition table signature, the fixmbr command prompts you for permission before rewriting the MBR. The fixmbr command is supported only on x86-based computers.

Hope this resolved your issue.
Thanks for contacting Fixya. Bye for now.
