1998 Plymouth Voyager "battery light comes" Questions

battery light on for 1996 plymouth voyager it starts but after you drive about a block the light comes on. it does not make the van shut off. The battery light indicates the alternator is not charging

Please describe your my grand voyagers dash lights flicker and then come on and the battery light comes on problem: battery may be going bad or altenator problem,suggest you check both.
