Nikon N50 35mm SLR Camera "d60" Questions

I bought an older 28mm nikon lens for my d60. when i try to rotate the apertrure ring, the d60 screen says that the aperture must be set to the highest setting. am i stuck with this aperture setting? ...

...ready to go digital. Want to keep it fun and easy, any recommendations? I was thinking maybe Nikon D60 or D80? Any idea what I can get for my F3? I" may just keep it for sentimental reasons :)

lens is designated "AF-S" they will not autofocus on the D3000, D3100, and the older D40, D40x, and D60
