If the overhead lights in the slide-out of your 2006 Wildcat fifth wheel trailer have lost power, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. Check the Circuit Breakers and Fuses: Start by inspecting the circuit breakers and fuses in the RV's electrical panel. Look for any tripped breakers or blown fuses that may be responsible for cutting off power to the lights in the slide-out area. If you find any, reset the breakers or replace the fuses with ones of the same rating.
  2. Inspect the Slide-Out Wiring Connections: The slide-out extension and retraction may cause wires to become loose or disconnected over time. Carefully access the area behind the slide-out, where the wiring for the overhead lights is located. Check for any loose, damaged, or disconnected wires. Reconnect any loose wires securely.
  3. Check the Slide-Out Switches: There may be separate switches or controls for the slide-out mechanism and the overhead lights. Make sure the slide-out is fully extended or retracted, depending on the current position, as some lights may only receive power in a certain slide position. Verify that the slide-out switches are in the correct position.
  4. Inspect the Slide-Out Wiring Harness: The slide-out itself may have a wiring harness that connects to the RV's electrical system. Examine this harness for any visible damage, wear, or signs of wear. If you notice any issues, repair or replace the affected parts as necessary.
  5. Test the Lights with a Voltage Tester: Using a voltage tester, check for the presence of voltage at the light fixtures and along the wiring path. This will help you identify if there is a break in the electrical circuit or if the issue lies with the light fixtures themselves.
  6. Replace Faulty Light Fixtures: If you determine that the overhead light fixtures are the source of the problem, they may need to be replaced. Check for loose or corroded connections in the light fixtures and consider installing new ones if necessary.
If you have gone through these troubleshooting steps and still haven't resolved the issue, it may be best to consult a professional RV technician. Electrical issues can be complex, and a qualified technician will have the expertise and tools to diagnose and repair the problem accurately. Remember to exercise caution when working with electrical systems and disconnect the RV from the power source before performing any repairs or inspections.

How to operate my electric baseboard heater..

Many of these are located under the OHC (over head cabinet) around the center of the area. I have seen where some are flush it sunken under, some are just on the surface itself. Generally, heaters will use the thermostat located in the main living area, dining room table or couch and it should be at should height or higher. Since heat rises, more ideal and energy conservative. Use a good flashlight, being specific for corners and tight spaces.
20181216_202044-nffcmmau4i3xb3icaabyn4l1-2-0.jpg Most sub surface or flush sensors will be smaller but usually have a similar size sensor, around 8-10 mm or 3/8" so these are smaller than what I am showing you in the picture, in which the sensor is located in the middle of this type.

If you think you may have found it but not sure, a trick to try is using a hair dryer on the area while another person observers the thermostat to look for temperature changes. Easy to watch on digital, need to remove cover and observe the level or bar movement when heated.

For your unit having only the L/M/H switch, the sensor may be around the location of the switch or in close proximity to the heat output

2008 forest river wildcat 31thsb wiring diagram

I can't be certain, but it sounds like there may have been a 3-way switch there, or possibly a pair of 2-way switches. Based on my experience, there are only 2 items that are typical to find in that location. One is a porch light switch, the other is an electric entry step control.

We have electricity to operate the microwave and plugs but the lights are operating off of the batteries. Is this a converter problem? If so is it a fuse on the converter? Doesn't appear the aux...

The microwave and outlets are on a 115-120vAC source running through the breakers box. The lights are 12vDC running through the converter then to the fuse panel. Locate the inverter in the compartments up front, possibly behind a panel that can slide or screws to hold the panel. Depending on the Mfr if the inverter, you should see a blade style buss fuse on the side, typically near the 12vDC output. Use a multimeter to check for the 120vAC input and 12vDC output. AC power-yes and DC power-no, check the fuse, replace if necessary. If the fuse is good, the inverter has blown and needs to be replaced. If you have AC & DC power on the inverter, go to the batteries and check for voltage without the inverter supplying power. Pull the fuse off the inverter or switch the battery disconnect switch. If the batteries have little to no voltage, cells may be dead. Take the batteries to a local auto parts store to get checked to see if the battery needs a charge or replacement.
