Propane is on and sufficient amount in tank? Do you hear any clicking as in trying to ignite when started? There will be a short delay (min or 2 ) before it tries to ignite after blower starts.

My camper water heater quit working. It has a Suburban water heater and when it quit working the reset switch did not light up. On/off does nothing. Do you think it is the switch or something else?

You didn't state if it was an electronic ignition type or not. You didn't state if it was AC + LP either. Assuming it is LP only and has electronic ignition, and the light is not coming on I would first look for a 12V fuse for the water heater. If you are lucky that might be all that it is.

The fuse would normally be located in the Charger/Converter Breaker/Fuse panel.

Beyond that you would have to start testing with a meter or test light to see if you have voltages to the unit.

It is common for the ignition boards to go out too. But those are a bit pricey. If you aren't handy electronically, have a meter, and a wiring diagram, it might be worth having a qualified technician troubleshoot this for you.

How to turn on water heater

This might not be much help, without more details, but there should be a valve inside the water heater panel (outside) you can open. Open the valve at the main propane tank also.

Make sure the water tank is FULL before you fire it up. There should be a switch inside the coach somewhere to turn it on.

If it doesn't ignite immediately, you probably have air in the lines. Light the stove and let it burn for a minute, then try the hot water tank again. Might take a few tries to get it fired up.

Can you turn on the hot water pilot light if water is frozen

No it shouldn't hurt anything, the damage may already be done. I would first turn off the water supply to the heater, and attach a hose to the drain and open it. Lighting the pilot will help the unit thaw. Once you feel it has completely thawed and drained, close the boiler drain and open the supply slowly to check for leakage before full use.

Electronic ignition hot water heater (6gal) lights but wont get water hot. The red light inside my RV goes off and back on after about 3 minutes. When I checked the unit outside, the pilot is lt, but not...

check to see if setiment has settled on the pilot....blow it out with air if it has. This issue comes up often with water heaters and rv refers. If that is not the problem and the pilot remains lit, but never increases when the thermostat is turned up, you probably need a new gas valve/thermostat.
