Hot water bypass
On the back side of the water heater you should see a water line connection at the bottom and one at the top. There should also be a water line connecting between the top and bottom lines. The bottom is cold water input and should have a valve. The top is hot water out put and may or may not have a valve, depends if there is a check valve installed. and the connection line between the two will have a valve. If you are wanting to bypass close the top and bottom valve and open the middle valve. If you are wanting to use the water heater, open the top and bottom and close the middle valve. Open the Hot Water on your kitchen sink and wait until you have a steady flow of water before you turn on the water heater.

SLIDE OUT ON FLEEETWOOD BOUNDER 201P
If you're having issues with the slide mechanism, figure out the manufacturer of the slide and Google it for a troubleshooting guide and repair manual. Their website will often have instructions for manual retraction or extension.

How to reroute a cable on a slide out
The question doesn't have a lot of detail -- model of RV, which slide out if more than one, what kind of cable?
Generally, if it is a power cable, disconnect from shore power and disconnect both the cabin battery(ies) and the engine battery(ies). Find the end of the cable (fuse panel, switch) and disconnect unless there is a junction or connector that is easier to access. Carefully unmount any cable ties or holds/clamps to free the cable. Reroute to your preferred location, clamp in place. Things to consider: is rerouting necessary? Will there be enough slack in the cable to operate when the slide out is extended, or doesn't k*1*n*k, pinch or droop below the chassis when slide out is retracted. Any sharp corners or wear points it will rub against? If replacing with a new cable, is the cable suitable for exterior environments if it is outside/underneath -- and if it is power, is it sufficient gauge for the power running through it?
You can probably see why it's hard to answer your question -- many variables and unknowns. Can't believe k*1*n*k is a naughty word on this forum.
