How will I run it thru if I can't start it??

  • Anonymous Jul 08, 2011

it will work thru when you are turning the bike over just like the gas when it gets to carbs it will do what it is supposed to do you can speed this by useing carberater cleaner spray but youll want to use the seafoam in gas to clean the whole system

2002 suzuki savage

I just bought the same bike. I had to choke it hard to even get it to start. Seemed as if it was running lean. It sputtered under acceleration and would die when I pushed the choke in. My first step I filled the tank the tank with 93 octane gas. This is a high compression motor. After gas swap my bike jumped out of it's skin. No more choking and very smooth through the power band and does not sputter no more. A totally different bike from then

Hi when i start my 650 savage & leave it ticking over the manifold glows red hot & then changes to a purple colour is this the norm! rgds steve

The exhaust manafold should NOT glow red, check for intake manafold leak, this can cause a lean running condition and can lead to severe engine damage.

My 1997 650 savage wont keep a charge

Hmm, do you have a voltmeter, check the voltage on the battery with it running, usually 13.5 to 15 volts
If that reads ok, you probably have a short, get a testlight, pull off the negative cable off the battery, clamp one end to the cable and the other to the battery. If it lights up, you have a short, start unplugging stuff until you find the short and the light goes out!

bang the side of the starter with a hammer (dead blow) and hold the start button. sounds like the starter solenoid is frozen. if not check the relay, and the switch, you can check the switch by doing a continuity test on it. good luck ill check back...

2002 Suzuki ls 650 Savage Ekectrucak problem

sounds like either the battery is past its useful life (will no longer hold a charge while under load) or the recharging circuit is no longer working. i'd focus on the battery especially if its the original from 2002.

even if the trickle charger shows a full charge, remove it from the charger and immediately measure the voltage. wait about 10 minutes and recheck the voltage. if it has fallen to below 11volts without any load applied, then change the battery. be sure to trickle charge the new one before using it.

The bike will start when I jump the battery then when I unhook the jumper the bike will run but the lights flicker and the bike will not acellerate or re-start The battery also seems not to be charging....

Take the battery out of the bike and hook it to a charger. Make sure it is properly charged and take it to a battery store to have a load test performed. From your description, it sounds like the battery is shot and needs replaced.
