Bought the Bike Used from a HD Dealer 2004 XL1200C Sportster. 2400 Miles 2nd time I took the Bike for a ride It was Slamming into Gears Very Loudly, Had the Clutch adjusted and Gasket Replaced, Next Time out Bike began To Sputter and Stall, Difficult to restart, kept stalling and Backfiring. Finally Got it running at Higher RPM,s 17 Mile Highway trip was uneventful, but when I got off the Hwy to Local Streets, RPM dropped and Bike almost stalled , Had to Keep Revs up to keep from stalling, Got it home to Driveway and it seemed to Idle Fine without Stalling At a REAL Loss Please Help

Check for the pinched vacuum line at the carb,, sportys are hard to locate because they are tucked in way behind , it ay have come disconnected, unless there is a load on the motor it will idle fine, add a little load and you get the feeling no fuel is getting through unless you rev it up

If the bike has been dropped, the stand could easilly be slightly bent.
Put the bike on a paddock stand and take a closer look. It will become obvious as soon as you can get underneath with the stand.
Ride safe.
Nice bike!
