My bike cut out after a short time when the choke was released when warm. I changed the crank position sensor and did all relevant checks. took it to a Triumph dealer who took three weeks to repair the bike. They said that it turned out to be a perished carb' diaphragm which let the needle drop when as vacuum decreased when the revs dropped as the choke was returned.
the is few possibilities with this issue but my first thoughts would be leaking intake valves or maybe one has stuck open or they might just be worn out allowing compression to blow back through carbie, My next thoughts would be are all the breather hoses on the carbie clear and free of blockage maybe one has melted from heat or got blocked from mud debree etc?
Check valve clearance or get leak down test done would be my first recommendations.
sometimes they are stubborne,I use stranded electrical wire to send through jets, just make sure when blowing into an orfus that it comes out somewhere hope this helps
If no choke is needed then your mixture is to rich or not enough air is getting in,first check your air filter is clean and replace if needed, the mixture screw usually is about 1-1 1/2 turns out from fully in.if this fails then your carb will need striping and cleaning.common on off road bikes.
Check the plug. I have had a very similar problem just recentley yesterday infact. It could be that you are running the oil mixture too rich as well...Good luck
Starts and quits? No assuning - Gas? Spark?, Air?Choke Open? Will it eun with partial choke? Fuel filter restriction causes slow loss of power or sensation of running out of fuel. Electrical is go or no go, and quits suddenly like the key was turned off.. So I don't think its electrical. No assuming. double ck all and bypas fuel filter for testing.. Good luck. Double ck fuel valve.
Put the bike in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear, the higher the better. Sit on the bike, with your hand off the clutch lever, and rock the bike back and forth to rotate the clutch hub. This might free up the lever. You will need to drain the oil and remove the right side casing to see and service the kick starter. If I recall correctly, there is a spring clip that allows the kick gear to engage the clutch hub. The piece could be broken, weak or out of position.
