1990 Suzuki GSX-R 750 L regulator/rectifier

I bought a new regulator/rectifier for my 1990 SUZUKI GSXR 750 online for $68, the picture showed a heat sync with a plug coming from it, what I received was a small black square with a positive and negative wire coming from it. I'm not sure if this is the right part or how to install it and any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! Spencer

SOURCE: suzuki gsxr 750 does not start sparks batt ok,

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, perform below tests:

  • remove all the plugs and spray starting fluid (or fuel) on all cylinders. Return the plugs and try again. If it fires even just a few times, then fuel is not entering the combustion chamber;
  • loosen/remove the drain screw at the bottom of the bowls. Check for the presence of fuel (and also determine if there are sediments, rust or foreign matter). If there is no or little fuel, then fuel is not entering the carbs;
  • if your fuel control/valve has provision, turn it to PRI. With the drain plugs still loosened or removed, fuel should flow out of the drain hoses (pls ensure that it is properly channel to a catch/holder and ensure other safe condition/practice).
At this point, you may want to check fuel delivery from the tank down to the carbs.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

the paint codes are available in the parts list for your bike. The parts list is available many places on line. Finding the paint is more difficult, one source is Colorrite.

Were is the rectifier at on a 750 gsxr 1990

Under the rear cowl, right side. You don't have to remove it all the way,but you do need to take all the bolts out to move it so you can access the voltage regulator and the plug/connector. This is where mine was located. it has 2 bolts attached to the frame, i use a 10 mm socket to remove and replace it. Should only take approx 1/2 hour or less from start to finish. I had a 93' 750 and i miss it now. love those older **** rockets. Best regards Big Al
