I don't know about your 04 Sporty but the earlier models used a 5/16 X 18 nut on the backside. No special tools necessary if you remove the rear wheel.

Good Luck

Removing the wheel is alot of work. I don't see why I can't fit a wrench up between the wheel and fender. The lights may be a problem but the bracket has a slot for what appears to be the wiring.

You can do it anyway you can find to do it. That's called being a mechanic. Your model bike may lend itself to being done that way. Not all do. I've had to remove the rear wheel on many occasions to get a nut started under the rear fender for one reason or another.

    Good Luck

How do I fix a front wheel on my lawnmower from falling off?

Most Lawn mower wheels are held on with special bolts. If your wheel is loose enough it falls off you need to make sure there are washers and a nut that goes on the inside of the wheel. Tighten it up real tight but don't strip the bolt.
If the bolt is stripped you may need to purchase a new bolt and nut.

I stripped the head of the shaft end bolt of my Frigidaire front load washer. How can i get the bolt out ?

There is a special socket set made for stripped nuts and bolts. Sears sells it. There are about five sockets in the kit, each covers a couple different sized stripped nuts/bolts. The socket is spiraled inside and tightens onto the stripped head as you turn it counterclockwise to remove..... DW

Right turn signal and stalk on 2006 kawasaki vulcan 900 classic on rear fender is not level. It is canted upward. how can i adjust it downward and level without breaking it.

There will be a nut on the inside of the fender holding the turn signal. Loosen the nut and rotate your signal to the position you like and retighten the nut. Sorry but I do not recall the size of the nut. If you need anything else let me know, Daniel.

Cannot get the rear flat tire off of 1995 chevy cavalier. Do I need a special tool for this?

You should only need a standard lug nut wrench to remove the wheel, unless you have a lock nut (usually one nut is different) and it requires a 'key' to remove that one nut-if they are all the same, however, you just need a lug wrench with the correct size to remove them.

The seat is held down by pillar bolts through the pan and plastic wing nuts which are too tight to remove by my fingers. they are accessible only via a hole (120mm dia or so) in the back of the pan. I...

You can get special plastic sockets to fit the wing nuts from most good DIY stores - they are a standard size. The bolts may be a bit corroded up inside the nuts so give a quick squirt with WD40 or other silicine based lubricant / dismantling spray.
If you can't get the special tool find a piece of rigid plastic pipe about 6-8 inches (150-200mm) long and about 3/4"-1: (20-25mm) in diameter - should be able to buy a length of it in plumbing department of store. With a hacksaw make two cuts vertically down about 25mm (1 inch) on the end of the pipe - about 5 or 6 mm 1/4 inch a part. You should be able to push this over the lugs of the wing nuts. The length of the pipe should give you enough grip to be able to turn the wing nuts. If you need more leverage drill a 6 -8 mm hole right through the plastic pipe at opposite end from the saw cuts and push a stout screwdriver through the hole to use as a tommy bar

Ugly chromefenders

Paint will not adhere very well to chrome. You will need to get the chrome stripped as it is a plating finish on the steel. Any plating business should be able to strip them for you. Once stripped then use any good quality primer or powder coating
