How can i check if the instrument panel is original or has been replaced on a 2007 ex ninja 500 please?
is it possible to match the serial number from the instrument panel to a serial number on the frame or VIN?

Frame number(VIN) is stamped on the yoke behind the headlight. You have to turn the handle bar fully in order to see it on the frame. The engine number is stamped on top of the lower half of the engine behind the cylinders (basically on top of the gearbox)

Yes I do believe they do. Try going to Powersportseast.com Look in the shopping section on the left of the homepage. You will want to use the parts fische and load the info for your bike. It allows you to see what the dealer parts counter can see. See if this helps. I'm pretty sure the 250 ninja really didn't change until 2008 when it got the BIG overhaul

I would try charging the battery. Take it off and put it on a slow trickle charge overnight. Batteries usually only last 3-4 years if it is an acid battery.

make sure you are checking the timing using the number 2 cylinder, no the number one.
