Hope this help.
I have a 2005 xl1200c doing the same thing and I have checked connections, fuses, put in a new speed sensor and now am at a lost. Every body says speed sensor but noone has an actual fix when its not the sensor. the code read "P0501" and its like i'm not getting power to the speed sensor.I have a 2005 xl1200c doing the same thing and I have checked connections, fuses, put in a new speed sensor and now am at a lost. There isn't one if your not in neutral eather pull the cluch or it will jump and roll if you start it in gear a car doesn't hav a kill switch if you get out of your car and it's in gear or in neutral on a bike u got to think a little bit more
The difference between the 883 and the hugger were very small. the hugger came stock with buck horn handlebars and a shorter suspension. the differences are still noticeable today between a standard 883 and and 883 low. 1992:
Hugger model made even lower
Standardized hand controls
Production Information:
XLH 883 $4,499
XLH 883 'Hugger' $5,075
XLH 883 'Sportster Deluxe' $5,559
XLH 1,200 $6,400
also check your vin number if you have and 883 it should read 1hd4cam........ or for a hugger 1hd4cem....
The timing of the plug change is probly chance Your speedo is a cable run from your front axle spacer between fork tube and Bering a spark plug or a wire could only put out the speedo light not affect the speed sensors caus there isn't one one a 95 sporty I only know cause I took off every thing on my chopper but headlamp tail lamp and starter switch and I had to make a custom spacer to take the place of my speed sensor slash Bering after I ditched my dash years ago on my 93 evo sporty
