The frame number is the Vehicle Identification Number. If the engine is the original engine, then the engine is a 2004. If it is not the original engine, the engine numbers will not identify what year the engine is. The only identifier is the frame number. Engine numbers are useless.

No one can tell what year the engine is. Not even a dealer. Even Yamaha Corporate can't tell you. They simply don't keep records of the engine numbers. The engine numbers are only stamped on the casings to identify the base information, YZ250, the assembly plant and the serial number sequence of a production run. The question of what year the engine is can't be answered. Over the years I have contacted Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki corporate offices at different times and they all say the same thing, "But sir, that is why we have the VIN stamped on the frame". It seems stupid to me that you can't find out.

Given that the answer as to the year of the engine can't be found out, and that now you know why, can I get a 4 thumbs-up rating for saving you further effort in trying to find out? After all, it's not my fault that no one can tell you what is unknown. Sorry.

sorry i do appologise, its just been a very frustrating day, but an absolute result on the frame year though, it was sold to me as a 2001 year bike, so in that sense result i would say, as to the engine year , am gonna say its a 2004 aswell , that should **** my mate off as he has a yz250 aswell and he just found out it is a 97 plate not a 2000 plate, oh well bragging rights are mine thank you very much for your efforts much apprieciated and here comes as many thumbs as you want , thank you once again.

2004 Ford F-150. How many VIN/ID tags are located on it?

The VIN Numbers are where you said. The engine has a casting number and a serial number that is not the VIN number, but is linked to the vehicle. Image a production line with 200 engines on pallets all numbered and waiting to go in a vehicle. The vehicle has a VIN number on it and they just pick the nearest engine and mount it, registering that number engine to the vehicle it went into.

Where is the frame vin number located on 2004 Envoy xl

They don't stamp the frames so everyone knows that. The vin is mostly just on the car body. You can have someone who wants to vin Id everything incase your worried about it getting stolen. But that's at the owners expense the dealer and builders don't do that.

I dont know the year of my motor i have no vin number

Hi, I am confused, your problem question banner shows the year as 2003 for your Kwaka. Vin number is normally for the frame/chassis. If you look around the engine you should see a stamped/etched alpha numeric code. If you call Kawasaki they should be able to tell you the details regarding this code.

Where is the vin number located on a kawaaski kz1000 police

Most VIN numbers have to be stamped on the frame by the triple tree, left side or right side. Basically right in front of the fuel tank but will be readable without removing the tank. It will read up and down and will be 17 digits long. Depending on how old the bike is it might be on the bottom frame close to the engine but will also be stamped into the frame. Let me know what you find and I can give you another place to check, Daniel.

I bought a yz250(1984) with-out ownership, to have ownership I must have the vin number but there are 4 numbers missing where the clutch cable has worn them away over the years, would there be another vin...

Can't you "forget" about ownership and just ride the bike without a title? After all, you bought it that way. Some states have a "rebuilt from parts" option for bikes and cars. Check with the state and see if you can get title that way. The 10th digit would be "E" if the bike is a 1984. The 9th digit is the key. It is a verification digit tied to a mathematical formula using the prior 8 digits. Any chance the vehicle division in your state could run the existing license plate and locate the needed info that way? How about the registered owners contact info? Yes, I know how freaky the state can be when asking for information. Probably the best thing to do if you must have a title is to go to a cycle junkyard and buy what is left of a YZ250 that has a title and then use that frame, or at the least, re-number your frame to match the junkyard bikes title.

Bought a 4 wheeler from a friend. Zeb Baker. HE bought it from dealer in Gainesville TX. It was stolen and I need the VIN #. but can't locate title. Can you do a search and find the vin? 660 Rapture.

There are 2 main locations where the nomenclature plate is located on all motorcycle type vehicles.
Main location; on the front of the frame between the front forks.
Secondary location; on the frame under the seat.
If your plate is missing from both locations you may be able to obtain the VIN# by using the frame number ( stamped into frame, usually next to motor) and engine serial number ( stamped into engine on bottom side. Failing these measures, your friend will need to go to the DMV and do a registration search for all vehicles registered in his name - you'll also need the approximate date of first registration to assist the DMV in locating the proper vehicle.
Hope this helps!

Year identification of yamaha yz250 engine number 1lu oo3560

The engine number will not give you what you need. The VIN is the key. You will find the VIN number stamped into the center steering stem that the forks attach to. Call a Yamaha dealer with the VIN and they can tell you what year and model of bike you have.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!
