On the carburetor hold the throttle lever to where it would be at full throttle. Then you can put the cable back in the catch for the cable that is on the throttle lever and let go of the throttle lever. The throttle cable should work with the throttle trigger now. The throttle cable only fits one way. The larger hole on the throttle cable catch should go to the ball at the end of the cable.
I hope this helps.
If you feel you cannot do this, then I would take it into your closest Stihl dealer and ask them if they would help you. I do this small repair for free at my shop. Have a good day.

We have a Stihl FS45 and Stihl FS38 Stihl. The fs38 has a cruces shaft and the fs45 has a straight shaft can we change the shaft over?

Question edited for clarity - maker name. No idea what you mean by a 'cruses shaft'. FULL 'make model (what is is)' in all questions please.

Here is one versus the other. I would think shaft swapping was fine.

How to change the cutting line in a curved shaft fs45 *******

No, I'm not sure why STIHL even makes curved shaft trimmers at all. I have never worked on ine in 10 years of being a STIHL tech, I just throw them out when they don't work and steer the customer to a straight-shaft. It's their punishment for the mistake of buying the curved shaft in the first place.
