To verify that the coil is working, take the plugs out of the heads. Put the plugs back in the plug wires and lay the plug against the head so that they get a good ground. Turn you ignition switch on and then turn it off while watching the plugs closely. They should spark one time when you turn the switch off. If so, your coil is working correctly. It sounds like either the sensor in the timing cavity of the engine is bad or the electronic ignition unit is bad.

Good Luck
Steve

Test a small engin Coil

there is no test for a magnetron or coil, either it works or it doesnt. the smaller wire that plugs into the "coil" is a shut off circuit when connected from the coil to the engine usually through a shut off switch. IF YOU DISCONNECT THIS WIRE THERE WILL BE NO WAY TO STOP THE ENGINE!!!! before purchasing a coil, go to a autoparts store and buy a inline spark tester to prove the coil has failed.

1999 chevy blazer wont start turning over but not firing replace distributor cap and rotor any througts on it

first check for spark disconnect any plug wire from the spark plug remove the spark plug from the engine reattach the plug wire and set it on the fender well DO NOT TOUCH THE PLUG OR WIRE AND CRANK THE ENGINE AND SEE IF THERE IS A SPARK BETWEEN THE ELECTRODE AND ARM. if there is no spark you have an ignition problem check for 12v at distributor.
if you have spark then check fuel pressure the fuel pump could be bad.

Car has no power. showed a engine missfire code , new plugs and wires .no code and still no power to hit 20mph.

Does it have the 2.2 engine?

Replacing the plugs and wires, while a step in the right direction, does not insure there is spark. Start the engine and remove each spark plug wire, one at a time. Use something well insulated to avoid a shock. You may find a plug wire that makes no difference whether it's plugged in or not. This wire has no spark. Trace it back to the coil that it's plugged into. Replacement of this coil may fix your problem, unless there is no power getting to it which is a whole 'nother ball of wax.

Wont start

is the your car engine cranking when you try to start, first check spark plugs ignition coils, remove one ignition coil and spark plug fix the spark plug in to the ignition coil then connect ignition coil to wiring and keep spark plug body touching on ground of engine head mettle parts, ask some one to crank engine then you can see is the plug sparking or not, do the same way to all the coils and plug otherwise you have to buy a ignition spark tester, is the all the coils and spark plugs are OK then check the fuel pump, it's sitting in under rear seat, before that do one thing disconnect oxygen (O2) sensor wiring and crank engine, the thing is if your oxygen sensor completely dead fuel pump will stop working, if engine start after disconnect O2 sensor, replace new O2 sensor, otherwise need to check fuel pump relay fuse and fuel pump. is this information helped you? please vote me and give a comment.

Check engine light flashes spitts and sputters has low power wont get over 45 mph

Engine is misfiring, common causes are spark plugs and spark plug wires, could also be a coil, but plugs and wires are the least expensive place to start.
