Hello
Having owned this (mine was a 91) model and knowing allot of Suzuki owners over the years the problem here is the fuel valve (called a Petcock valve) is defective, they sick, the reason is that the valve is operated by engine vacuum, so it only delivers fuel when the engine is cranking over or running, the only exception to this is the so called Prime position marked with a "P" on the valve. The hose consist two small vacuum lines from the engine that operate the valve in the run and reserve position and the large line is the fuel delivery hose to the engine. My advice is to mark the lines with tape, remove the fuel tank and replace the fuel petcock valve with a new one, this will also eleminate the other nasty problem this valve has, the rubber O ring fails and it leaks fuel all over the engine fairings and runs the paint, this happened to my bike.
Here is a picture of the fuel valve petcock on the fuel tank, it is held into the tank by two machine screws, drain the 1st by placing the selector in the "P" prime position, do not get gas on the paint or worse the decals.

May 15, 2021 - 2007 gsxr 600. I changed clutch cover due to being broken. Put new oil in. Won't start. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your bike yourself ...
The problem is that over the winter water tends to condense inside the fuel tank. If you did not replace all of the remaining fuel from the tank it might be contaminated with water. Try to leave your bike with a full tank next time you live it unused for a long time.
no way to choke this fuel injected bike in theory....but by my experience try to start the bike with fully open throttle several times, take care do not flat the battery, if the bike has not much fuel do not try with the bike on the side stand so the fuel cannot reach the fuel pump inlet.
not 100% sure if this is a fuel injected bike...if it is...maybe the fuel fillter needs changeing...if its a crab engine....try cleaning the carbs out!!
check spark plugs, check for spark. check fuel is good. possible needle and seat gummed up in carb float bowl. disasemble and clean with brake or carb cleaner.do not change float level. re assemble ,you can use the cleaner to help to fire the motor with a shot through the carb. make sure you cleaner says flammable. good luck.
Clip off the seat. you can now access two bolts for the tank. remove those and lift up the tank to see where the hose is connected to underneath. There is a gasket around the end of the hose where you pinch to make loose and pinch that to move it up off the connection. Now pull off the hose and gas will drain out, put the old gas in a can and dispose economically proper (auto parts store or burn it in a fire) change the oil, and transmission fluid. When winter rolls around you are supposed to winterize the bike so your gas doesn't rust the inside of the tank. Change the fluids every spring before starting it up you should be good to ride. don't forget to check air pressure in tires, and brake fluid every 20k miles.
try new spark plugs. and for next winter you're better off not draining everything. best thing is add some fuel stabilizer and run it a few minutes once in a while. empty lines tanks and carbs attract moisture.
Hi ..... Go through the above list, pay particular attention to fuel delivery ie blocked breather in tank, any filter fitted to tap or change in line filter if fitted. Easy to check, take off fuel delivery to carb (place container to catch fuel), start bike and fuel should come out a strong contant flow.
Let us know how you get on.
