Not worked on this model ,but I believe the alternator is fitted on a taper shalf ,and needs a puller .ask your local yam dealer if this is correct .

Yes, but more important, needs a battery to start. After that, teh alternator provides power...if it working ok.
Wiring diagram can be found in service manual from Clymer books or from Yamaha. Meantime, goto library reference section 646 for repair/ service manuals.

please check to see that you have a battery in good shape first
