I can buy a Fragram 14" WA-14 bandsaw for R1500, guy says it is in working condition, but needs TLC. What do you think of the price and is parts easily available in the Western Cape?
You probably need bearings for the wheels, new rubber for the wheels (you could true them in a lathe if there is rubber left) and new bearings for the guides. Buying broken equipment is alot like buying work. I bought my Ridgid bandsaw brand new (on clearance) for $200 Can.. The small bearings are not too expensive as long as there is a number on them that you can trace to a manufacturer (specialty bearings can cost you a thousand dollars for a set (eg.Mazak CNC lathe). If a wheel is broken (cracked spokes) you may find out that the parts are hard to get and you need to make (cast and machine) a new one, not very cheap unless you are or know a machinist (friend).Pray for rain, Cape town is to run out of water by the end of April 2018.
