Check the oil pump and the oil. If the oil is too thin or the oil pump is worn, that can cause untold damage to your engine!

Triumph oil change

Look at your owners manual, it will tell you. If you do not have one, they can be found cheap on ebay.

Check oil level light comes on ,but the level is good

what kind of car, year, make model.

If the oil level is correct measuring with the dipstick then it most likely is just the oil sensor, on newer vehicles they've been known to be over sensitive but have also been known to let an engine run dry and never show an alert.

As long as you change the oil and the level is in the "safe" area on the dipstick then you have no worries.

2010 triumph thunderbird. Do i check oil level with bike level or leaned over on kickstand. I bought this bike used and no owners manual came with bike. Where can i get one?

You should check the oil level on a level ground and it should be standing. If your triumph motor has a center stand, better use that then check the oil level. If you change oil, you also need to change the oil filter. For the manual, go to http://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/

Hope this helps

I have a 2006 Yamaha Roadstar that is showing oil level is empty but when started it is showing full. Why is it showing empty when cold?

The Yamaha Roadstar has a dry sump oil system. What this means is that the oil is stored in an oil tank to reduce the size of the engine. By storing the oil in the tank (which is under the seat and has the filler cap/dipstick, the engine does not need a sump under the crankshaft to store the oil. In this type of system the oil is pumped back to the tank after making its rounds through the engine. When you shut the bike off the oil will settle in the engine until you run the engine. The procedure to check the oil is to warm up the engine and allow it to idle for approximately 3 minutes. Do not rev up the motor during this time as it will cause the oil level to not read correctly. After shutting off the motor, check the oil level and adjust it to keep it in the proper level on the dipstick.

Oil light comes on only at idle and only when thr engine is hot. it goes fine at start up and only comes on after about 10 miles and only at idle. the oil level is correct and it is the correct oil

It may be worth trying a new oil pressure sender switch, if it still comes on, fit a pressure gauge to the oil system(can use the switch hole)
although the oil is correct grade, perhaps try one grade thicker, if it really has low pressure its not a good ting
