Hi Please help as i cannot find my manual for my fridge freezer (hotpiont FF187L)which i have had for about 16 months. The fridge is not chilled despite adjusting settings to max. also the super cool / super freeze lights are flashing? Look forward to a prompt response Cheers Tara

First of all, the model number you gave is not complete. But check you defrost system in the freezer, when the refer section stops cooling, your evaporator in the freezer is possibly full of ice and the fan won't move air through ice. When the refer sections fails to cool, check for a fan in the freezer. If it works, you have a defrost problem and is occurs every 3 - 5 days. The unit should defrost once or twice a day. Good Luck

There is a balance between the freezer and fridge. Reduce the freezer temp and see what the fridge temp does. By reduce I
mean make the freezer warmer. If it is set too cold the fridge gets colder.

There is a small fan, generally accessed in the freezer. It will be behind a vented panel. Its job is to blow cold air, as needed, to the refrigerator. Usually the problem is the little motor that drives this fan.

If you have a multimeter, you can access the fan and see if it is receiving 115 volts. If it is, and the fan is not spinning, then you need the little motor. If it is not receiving voltage, then you need the thermostat (which is on the fridge side).

Either part is very easy to replace. The panels are generally attached with a couple Phillips screws, and some just have panels that snap on/off. The parts can be found on eBay or many, many online sellers of appliance parts. Also, you probably have local appliance service businesses that sell parts. You will just need the make a model number.

If you don't own a multimeter - I will be so bold as to say you should. Very handy tool. And these days you can get a cheap one (for about $10 or so at Wall-Mart, Lowe's, Home Depot etc). For household needs, you will be checking for AC Voltage. For auto needs, you will check for DC Voltage.

Hi Aaron, Apparently this is a Fisher & Paykel fridge made by Kelvinator.

F&P has a support page for manuals, etc., here. I found a fridge / freezer user manual, here. F&P maintains that this manual is applicable to all of their fridge / freezers, so don't be put off by all the model numbers covered (the P120 model is specifically listed however).

It sounds like the freezer fan(evaporator) is wearing out. This problem is very hard to diagnose because the fan spins but no fast enough to circulated the chilled air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The parts and labor are around $300.00

Sorry, no secret. The fan wasnt working so we called an engineer who bypassed a sensor. Now it works perfectly again.

hi if the freezer appears to work and the fridge if warm,the problem is that the freezer is over frozen and blocking the vents which send cold air into the fridge when required,and the noise is the fan hitting the the ice build up,defrost (switch off)your applinace for at least 36 hours then switch back on,you will then find after the freezer reaches -12 the fridge will then start to go cold.
