Accelerating on the 2nd gear and hitting above 5000rpm, the engine starts fading (similar behaviour as to when you have run out of petrol). To overcome this problem and ensure I don't breakdown in the middle of the road whilst travelling 40-50km/h I have simply been shifting to the third gear which accelerates to 4th and 5th just fine. It's the second gear that is experiencing acceleration problem. Any thoughts? I'm thinking this is a common problem seen in old mnotorbikes??

You do not say which model you have . I think you are dealing with Kei Hin carburetors that have floating vacuum pistons ( not the rubber diaphragm style). In this style piston the aluminum piston floats in the carburetor top up and down about 3/4" or so. It is a once or twice a year tradition with this style carburetor (used on older GL1000, GL1100, and CX500's) to remove the top, pull out the piston, and clean both the inside of the carburetor top and the out side of the piston thoroughly with carburetor cleaner. This is so they do not stick or hang up during normal operation. When the carburetor top sticks on one or more of the cylinders it will cause a flat spot in the acceleration curve like the one you describe.

Toyota Corolla SW 1.4 VVT-i E12, 2004. Buzzing noise coming from the engine bay when accelerating on gear.

Hi there,

The sound you hear, is it a whining, popping, grinding, scraping or rattling sound?
If you drive a manual transmission vehicle and notice a grinding noise, it can indicate the clutch gear is no longer disengaging correctly.

Under hot weather, my cayenne gear stay at 1 when I start the car (even on 5000rpm). need to use manual gear mode. After a while change it to auto gear mode operate back to normal. why?

When the engine is cold (even if the weather is hot) Cayennes start out in first gear. When it warms up a bit by driving, it will start in 2nd and won't go back to first until it's cold again.

2007 KAWASAKI VULCAN CLASSIC 2000CC. ENGINE "SOMETIMES" MISSES BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR AND ONLY BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD. THE ENGINE STUTTERS THEN PICKS UP AND RUNS FINE. SIMILAR TO WHEN THE RPM LIMITER KICKS...

Big twins can put a lot of stress on the spark plugs when under compression. You may also have a failing ignition coil, or a loose earth on your ignition system.

Extra sound comes above 65kmph

Hi,

When you push the vehicle above 60 kmph, it will be in top gear and will reach around 5000rpm.
During this time engine will make higher noise than normal. That is usual.

Check Injector on Renault Megane

You don't say if the car is misfiring, but that's what it sounds like to me, could be a possible ignition coil faulty are heads of the ignition coils Gray if so then probably yes, A way to diagnose the problem, unscrew all 4 bolts from the coils now start engine with the engine running slowly lift up the first coil if engine starts misfiring or stalls coil is ok, if not replace faulty coil check all coils in the same manner.

(You may have to lift up the engine cover to find the coils)

Sluggish engine pontiac g6

Sounds like a transmission issue, have the car scanned for ant transmission related codes. Most transmission shops will check to make sure your transmission is working 100% free of charge. With what you have described, almost sounds like you don't have 1st or 4th gear and your transmission is running on 2nd and 3rd gear. Easy fix if the 1st-4th solenoid needs to be replaced, or the wire harness has gone bad. Start with getting your car scanned and let me know if your transmission is starting on 2nd. Good luck

I HAVE A SLIGHT PURRING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE... WHEN I PUT THE CLUTCH IN IT STOPS... ALSO WHEN IM IN 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD GEAR WHEN IM ACCELERATING THERE ISNT A GOOD SOUND FROM IT!! BUT ITS FINE IN 4TH AND...

This would be most likely the first noise of a wearing input shaft bearing. It will only get louder, and eventual failure of the bearing will probably mean catastrophic gearbox failure. It stops when you put your foot on the clutch because the gearbox stops spinning then, and it is quiet in 4th and 5th because there is no side loading (as there is in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) on the failing bearing. It wouldn't matter what sort of car it was, the gearbox should be overhauled as soon as possible.

Warning light comes on when accelerating from a stand-still in 1st / 2nd gear

Hi it sounds like the low water warning light for the windscreen washers, some models have a warning for low level. when you are accelerating the water level is running away from the sender. check the levels and fill up all your water bottles. try after that. hope this is your problem and it is ok.
