1995 kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja Logo
Posted on Nov 04, 2010

I have a 1995 zx-9 that I bought new back in 95 it has had a flat spot at around 4000 rpm since I have owned it. I have had it looked at by a couple different machanics and they have tried adjusting it with some success. I had to have the some parts in the carbs replaced and know the problem is worse. I ahve noticed that if I leave the choke on a little it fixes the problem so I am assuming the carb is running lean. I have talked to a couple of bikers that had this same problem with this model. hoping to get some direction to try and save some money with the tuning process.any thoughts?

Looks like a d & d pipe on it ,, is it a full system or just a slip on ? if a full system you'll need a jet kit and a timming advancer would'nt hurt either ,,, but if it's had the problem since day one ,,, you should've taken it back to the dealer a.s.a.p. and let them deal with it before your manufacturer waranty was expired, a dirty air filter, valve adjustment are also possible cures in addition to the jet kit. float highth in the carbs , jet size and needle highth will all change and improve your over all peformance...if it's done had all that ,, it was installed wrong ,, get it on a dyno to tune it correctly with the air/ fuel ratio at 12.5 - 13.5....good luck.

There should be a voltage regulator which has the job of keeping the voltage at the right range. Look for a finned box near the computer.

I have a Kawasaki 1988 ZX10 and there is a flat spot at about 3000 RPM. The problem seems worse when the engine is fully warm. Also I don't know if this is related but when you leave the bike for a...

If the problem is worse when warm then it may be rich.
try new oil, plugs and new air filter first.
also check for a flooding carb or leaking fuel tap, or bad diaphram in the fuel tap
clean the carbs, adjust the valves
if it still has problems then lower the needles 1 notch
keep notes on changes so you can change it back if there is no improvement or its worse

dyno jets may help if the jetting wrong or the exhaust has been altered from standard, but its not a miracle cure and wont help the starting on 3 cylnders problem which may be related

I have a flat spot at 4000 rpm

I think the fuel injection needs to be recalibrated.Try this first. On a CLEAN road, take the bike out and give it a good run.The fuel/air mixture can reset itself. It's like riding from ocean level to up in the mountains. You don't have to stop at a dealer halfway through the trip.It can take about 50 miles to do it,but it may.The computers in bikes and cars nowdays are pretty smart.Hope this may help

95 dodge dakota having hard time shifting.

Try a tranny service change a place that changes the filter the pan gasket and fluid not some of these quick places that just drain a couple quarts out of the tranny lines and thats it that wont help but a complete tranny service should help.

if the car is stock i would replace your oxygen sensor. you may also need to clean out the MAF sensor.
