I have a Cub Cadet LT 1042 and the steering wheel just goes round and round.

This sounds similar to the wheel on the bus....<giggle> Well, what you do is look at each part downstream of the steering wheel. Eventually, you will find one part moves and one does not, and that is the area you need to investigate. Often a sheer pin gets sheered.

I have a Yard Machine mower (High Wheel rear bagger / mulcher). When running, the engine ''hunts''. Have changed the spark plug and put in new air filter. Also replaced the sheer pin (was half sheered)....

yap! and also clean the carburator by removing the bowl, check the nidle or change. parts are available to sears warehouse. You can check also the flooter if there is a hole, by rattling if gas are present inside, if so, make small hole .

My poulan snow blower keeps breaking sheer pins in the wheels,

1)try replacing them with a heavy duty "roll-pin"
these are available from auto parts stores.
two types are available.
first is the "single-roll",second is the"multi-rolled"with many layers to it.

try both they're cheap.

2)try not hitting things with the blades
3)dont force the machine in heavy wet ,or frozen icy packed snow.

Its most likely your siren module.

It is located in the right fender well just behind the wheel liner.

Remove the R/F wheel, remove the torx 25 screws, pull the liner to the rear and you can see it right there above the liner.

To remove the siren module...it uses a sheer bolt, which unfortunately you'd need to either drill it out, or use a dremel to slice a slot to get a screw driver in to remove the sheer bolt.
