Sounds like the gas that was left in the carb. has turned bad and clogged the jets. the only right way to fix it is to pull the carb off the bike and take the bottom bowl off. once done you can take some carb. cleaner and spray out all the jets and crevices inside the carb. hopefully this fixes your problem. if not then you will need to pull the carb. completely apart and give it a good soaking. once you have soaked it for an hour or so take some compressed air and blow out any holes. be sure to blow it out good. once done put the carb. back together and give it a shot. this should fix it right up for ya.

2005 Yamaha Bruin 350 ATV. What will cause my ATV not to run? Gas is coming from drain tube?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from motorcycles to ATV model category.

Turning over has nothing to do with the carburetor! Your battery is flat. It will need charging.

If the carb is leaking, it is because the float is set wrong or the float valve needle isn't seating properly.

Engines only need three things to run.

A supply of clean fresh fuel (not sitting a year)
A Spark at the right time.
Compression.

You say you cleaned the carb **in** carb cleaner, as opposed to *with* carb cleaner. Did you strip it down, check the float for holes, clean the jets and needles?

2001 Polaris sportsman 500 will run great for a couple minutes then dies. I let it set for a minute and it fires back up. I have to continue to do this as I am riding and it is very frustrating.

Sounds like the float bowl in the carb is sticking, go get a can called "Sea Foam" from your local parts store add about half the can to a full tank of gas take it for a good ride it will clean out any gunk and deposits in the carb and make it run good again i had the exact problem you are talking about with my wife's Suzuki Eiger 400 i let it sit for 5 months and it caused the carb to get all gummed up i ran Sea Foam in the gas and it runs like brand new again after riding it for about 45 mins.

2004 automatic arctic cat 500 atv with a keihon carborator - starts up and idles. drive and stop and it boggs down and stalls. try starting and it starts right back up. Any ideas?

sounds like it has been sitting, if you have never rebuilt a carb, best to bring it in,, the main jet is probably all gummed up,, you can try draining all your tank gas,, spraying carb cleaner into the carb after removing air cleaner but that really wont help out the main jet.. Stabil is a good product for gas if you are going to store your ride for awhile, it also acts to clean carbs while using a small amount when you fill up.

My tomahawk 110 atv will not start. I have rebuilt carb , replaced spark plug and it cranked and ran fine until I opened it full throttle and then it started sputtering and diedand now Iit will not re

You need three things to make any gas engine run, in this order double check make sure you have proper timing set, spark and fuel. Could be bad gas or a bad ground from motor to frame.

This is a timing issue. The crank and cam are out of time. It might be excessive wear,

1996 Polaris Sportsman 400 Will Not Start

If your atv has been sitting this long, the carb is probably stopped up internally... take the carb to a qualified professional and have it cleaned and set...(take a few pictures so you know where all the hoses re-attach)

ALL it takes for an engine to run is:
1. A timed spark
2. Adequate compression
3. Proper fuel/air ratio delivered
