The tachs ground is anywhere on the frame. The coils ground is the mounting of it if all is metallic & not a plastic bracket as some are.
The connections for the rpm's will still register the same way

Anyone have a wiring diagram or know how to hook this up ?

Black and red are pretty standard for negative & positive battery terminals.
There is likely a model number (pic isn't good enough to see the finer print) on the label but the larger numerals are probably serial numbers and without the model number, you may have a problem finding the exact installation info you want.

The link below has illustrations for a different model but manufacturers will generally stick with a wiring code to make installation and even production simpler:

That company does not have the web 'presence' they should have by now.

Why does my new coil (coil 1) cut in and out?

Not sure what bike you have. I ran into a similar problem with several small engines and the CDI box was the culprit. Replacing with a new coil seemed to fix the problem but it would come back when the box cooled down. You may also try looking for chewed wires on your ECU. Look very closely for any missing insulation on the wire. You may also want to double check the connections to the coil to make sure they are snug.

I just installed an msd electronic ignition and now the bike will not start. The bike has an s&s super e carp and shotgun straight exhaust with no baffles. and is kickstart only

Double check your wiring---On a dual fire coil, the Orange and Black wires will connect together to the negative side of the coil... using a single fire coil, the Orange wire will be used for the front cylinder negative terminal and the Black for the rear cylinder negative terminal ...hope this helps.

I replaced plug wires: unfortunately i got mixed up : plug1, plug2, plug3 and plug 4 ; please show me where the wires must go to.

hi you dont say what model kawasaki you have im assuming you have a transverse four like a z1000 generally speaking as you sit on the bike the outer cylinders are 1 and 4 the inner cylinders are 2 and 3 ,now again im assuming you have two coils, each coil has two plug leads
coming out of them coil number one will serve cylinders 1 and 4 it doesnt matter which of these leads goes to either 1or 4 as bikes use a wasted spark system and will spark on the exhaust stroke as well, coil number 2 will serve cylinders 2 and 3 again it wont matter which plug lead goes to either 2or3 ok now for the tough part
you need to find the sparking point for no1 cylinder remove no1 spark plug probably the outer left cylinder as your sat on the bike and turn the engine over by putting the bike in gear (only do this with no plug leads connected as it could start unexpectedly in gear ) and push or bump the bike gently with the clutch out to bring the piston to the top of the bore a small torch would be handy for this to shine down the plug hole you then need to find a timing cover on the outside of the engine
you may need a service manual for this as there are many variations but usally there are two pick up modules one for each coil the timing marks correspond to each coil with cylinder 1 at the top of the bore the timing mark should be near number 1 pick up module now that you know which module number one is follow the wiring back to the coil ,each pick up wiring is a different colour like black and orange wires for one coil and black and green for another when you have found number one coil attach plug leads to it and fit them to cylinders 1 and 4 you then fit the remaining coil with plug leads to 2 and 3 cylinders refit the spark plug take the bike out of gear and go for a start good luck with this

How can I tell if the ignition switch is bad in my toyota camry?

You need a tachometer compatible with the Toyota Camry's ignition system. Start up the Camry's engine and let it reach normal operating temperature. Connect the tachometer tester probe to terminal IG of the Data Link Connector 1. Connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the DLC1 with a jumper connector. Inspect the tachometer's timing. It should be between 8 and 12 degrees Before Top Dead Center. Set the timing as necessary. Tighten the hold-down bolt and make sure the ignition timing advances. Ignition Coils Disconnect the negative terminal from the Camry's battery. Remove the two nuts and clips on top of the cylinder head cover, then remove the cover. Disconnect the four ignition coil connectors and the bolts retaining the coils. You can now remove the coils. Replace the coils as needed. Connect the bolts and coil connections and replace the cylinder head cover.

Blows ignition fuse wont start

If it's blowing a fuse, it's got a short or the coil is bad. Check all the wiring associated with the ignition circuit including the tachometer if the bike has one. Test the primary circuit of the coil. Disconnect the small wires going to the coil. Use a Digital Volt Ohm Meter and put one lead on each small terminal of the coil. Put the meter in "R X 1" postition. You should read 3-4 ohms. If you read zero or less than 1 ohm, the coil is shorted.

Good Luck

Cant find the tach sensor on a 2000 1200 sportster

The tachometer is an electronic tach and gets it's "pulses" from the ignition coil. The older bikes had a pink wire that went to "negative" side of the coil. The negative side of the coil is the side the electronic sensor plate in the ignition cavity on the right side of the engine connects to.

Battery/starter malfunction upon reinstallation of battery

are you absolutely certain that you have the battery back in the bike the right way,as what you have described is battery leads around the wrong way, because if you hook up the positive to the neg terminal and negative to thepositive terminal the bike will try to start(but backwards)as you have effectivly turned the whole electrical sytem inside out,i just hope that the cdi and coils havent been damaged..i certainly hope that, all you can do now is put the battery back on the charger and let it trickle charge, track the leads and be certain which is which before putting them back on (positive is red, negative is black)and the battery should be clearly marked, not only on the front but beside each terminal, hope this helps
