Does it only happen when you accelerate hard from a stop (or when moving very slowly)?

First, is it turbo'd? if so, how many pounds of boost are you running. If you are running high boost, how much is you spark timming retarded?

You say you changed your spark plugs. Is it possible you crossed your wires. Check and see. Good Luck Friend.

SOURCE: 1995 subaru impreza wrx sti overboost problem

Do you have a manual boost controller (mbc) installed? I have a 96 WRX and had the same problem and so took out the MBC. It now runs sweet. If you don't have one check the vacuum hoses from the turbo to the wastegate and also to the boost control solenoid, make sure they are tightened with cable ties or a hose clamp.  Also could be your spark plugs make sure you have iridium ones, they out perform any others.

Hi,
Fault codes as follows
45 Pressure Sensor Duty Solenoid (Turbo Models)
42 Idle Switch or Circuit

Those are the correct codes for a Subaru.

SOURCE: how do i replace starter on my wrx sti?

Disconnect the battery..
Disconnect the wires on the starter..
Should be 2 bolts that hold the starter in place - remove them and pull the starter out..

The new one will only go in one way so you cant mess it up..

Rate well ;o)

I put the wrong octane in my '08 wrx sti

all impreza recommends high ROM.
although 99ron or 100ron is recommended, some uses unleaded for non-turbo and of course notice a sligth defference in performance using high ROM fuel.
in your case is the reverse, means does't need to drain for a change.

I cant remove my key from the ignotion 04-05 wrx sti

You are going to have to have you ignition tumbler replaced. (Talk about insult to injury!) It sounds like Repo-man slammed in a new tumbler to snatch your rex and didn't quite get it in right.
Good luck!

Fuel Pump issue with 95 WRX STi

On both cars, check the fuel pump/guage harness connector under rear seat - the old fuel pump draws too much current and melts the connector causing poor conatct & voltage drop off. Easy to see usually, just cut the two fuel pump wires from either side of the connector and re-join with new crimp connectors, or solder joint.
