Test the charging system output, if it is charging at idle engine speed or if it is only charging at rpms above idle.. .(also) the battery may need to be serviced or replaced if it doesn't pass a loaded volt test.

The battery on my 1995 Suzuki intruder 1400 keeps going dead. Why?

either the battery has had it or you're alternator has. if theres no lights on the clock when engine running i'd say the battery was worn out. put a voltmeter across the battery before starting, should be in excess of 12 volts. start the engine and look again, should be up around 13+ volts, this will prove the charging circuit is ok. if the battery isn't faulty then you have a current leak somewhere, check all your connections especially alarm systems

Suzuki intruder wont start

indicates a bad battery
when the starter is engaged there is not enough power left for the ignition system
when push start all of the power goes to the ignition system and it starts
lights are no indication of a good battery
take it to a bike auto electrician specialist shop for a charge system check

Is Idle adjustment important when it comes to charging the battery on a 1998 Suzuki Intruder VL1500? I do seem to have a problem and I find myself having to place a trickle charger on it every once in a...

No, idle adjustment isn't the important thing. Amount of riding and amount of time parked is the thing. If you don't ride much, and it is parked for long lengths of time between rides, you will have a lower battery condition.

However, if you ride a lot and it doesn't get parked for long periods of time, you may want to charge the battery fully then put load test on it to check for one or more dead cells in the battery.

If the battery is not the problem, then you will need to check your charging system.

My "01" 1500 intruder wentr completly dead, no

Well you may need to look at the charger that it stays on. The battery is'nt made to be charged all the time and it may have ruiened the battery. The charger if not plugged in or the place it's plugged inton whent dead the charger it's self will run the battery down. ( a battery tender might not, it's different than a charger) I would get a test light ( a tool that has a light bulb in the handle an ice pick on the end and on the other end a lenght of wire and a clip on the end to connect to ground). use the light to see where the power is getting to. Most of the time on a vehical thats sitting the battery cable connections at the battery are the troble. Disconnect and reconnect them scraping them off the get them clean, and reconnect them tightly. As the battery has been on charge for a long time it may be bad and have to be changed.

When i try to start my 2002 1500 intruder all goes dead when i hit the starter. after 24 hours the lights and such come back but when i hit the starter it all dies again, help.

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, have the battery checked, externally charged and load tested.

Offhand, check & clean:
  • battery terminals/connections;
  • main fuse and holder.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

I have a 1994 Suzuki Intruder 800. I bought it new and ridden it for years but every year I have had too buy new battery. It will not hold a charge and seems to drag when trying to start regardless of...

It's possible the voltage regulator output is too high and boiling all the fluid out of the battery. Do you have to add fluid to the battery at all? Have you done a volt output test of your alternator?

Fuse box

The main fuse is under the panel on the right side behind the forks and the rest of the fuses are in the crank case under the cover...where you fill the oil.
