Well in the good old USA if you have a 16 digit VIN number then the 10th digit will always denote the model year of the vehicle and that applies to all vehicles with a 16 digit VIN. The coding for them simply starts with the letter H and they leave out a few choice letters such as I O Q Z and then it starts into numbers after Y and honestly after the year 2009 Im not sure what they have gone to as Im not currently working in a dealership anymore, however here is a chart that I made to help ya get it figured out. Are you sure this is the VIN number? A motorcycle VIN has 17 digits in it so the number you have isn't long enough and should contain more letters. The VIN is stamped on the right hand side of the steering tube that the pivot for the forks goes through.
The 10th digit letter is the year code for that bike.
*Note* The date given is the date of manufacture NOT the date it was first registered for road use. Another issue is that anything before 1980 may not have a date letter.
You can sometimes get a general idea of the bikes age by how it actually looks. The styling has changed over the years so that might give you an idea of which generation it is.

the only other possible way is to get the engine serial number and the manufacturer site and contact the engineering section to see if there is a BOM ( bill of material) list to find what bike VIN number that engine serial number was installed in

Bikes do not have a VIN or any centralized serial number database. Each manufacturer maintains their own serial numbers. It is extremely difficult to ID a frame solely by serial number.

Just by looking at the vin number won't tell you the year of your bike. You need to write the vin number down and get on the phone with a dealer that operates your type of motorcycle manufacture. Tell them the vin number and then they can tell you what year it is.

EXCEPT If it isn't older than a 1983 you can use this method on all 17 digit vin numbers cars, bikes, atv's etc. code follows,count to the tenth digit,D IS 1983 E 84. F 85. G 86.H 87.J 88.K 89.L 90.M 91. N 92.P 93.R 94. S 95.T 96.V 97. W 98.X 99.Y 2000. 1 01. 2 02.3 03. 4 04. 5 05. 6 06.7 07. You sholdn't have any problem understanding this.

Hello,

The chassis number(s) will not give the year of the bikes. The engine number(s) will give the year and location made of the engine only. This information would have to be obtained from the manufacturer.

The only way to determine the year of the bike(s) is to use the VIN number. The VIN number is 17 characters long and is usually located on the front of the frame.

This site, VIN Look-up, will give you all the information you need on your bikes.

The best way is to call the manufacturer's 800 number, give them your vin and they can tell you anything you need to know about your bike.

YEAR OF MANUFACTURE OF MY BIKE
your bike should be a 1992. You go by the 10th digit, and you can find VIN charts online to tell you the year of the corresponding letter. Starting in 2001, it switched to numbers. The number in the 10th digit corresponds to the last digit of the year.
