My 98 yz125 has low compression and i am wondering how much it is suppose to have

If you have 150psi thats very good for this bike if its lower than 100psi rebuild the engine,,new piston rings will do wonders for it,,

What causes compression loss on a 1998 yz125? could power valve stick open or closed causing this? it was running fine and gradually has to be pull started. once i get it running it will not open up. it...

Pull started? on a YZ 125?
The power valve will not allow high RPM power if it is gummed up.
Low compression is due to bad rings, a different problem.
You may have both problems.

Compression? psi?

anything over 70 psi will be just fine to make it run. But there can be a few difrint things that you should look at as well. pushrod adjustment is the first thing i would check, if compression is low.
