SOURCE: yamaha wiring

Check on ebay for a shop manual or Clymer manual. owners manual won't do any good. You can usually find one ranging from 3 to 35 dollars. Also check http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums.html. It is an excellent forum for free information on anything you want to know about your XJ.

SOURCE: oil capacity?

Should be 3.5 Liters / quarts with the filter change. Put in 3 liters then top up as needed to get the level to the top of the viewing window.

To check your oil, bike should be level, on it's center stand, engine should NOT be running!

Any oil viscosity between 10w30 and 20w50 will work just fine. Smaller numbers if the weather's cooler and/or you only do short rides. Bigger numbers for hot weather and longer rides.

Have an 86 yamaha maxim 700 dont think the carbs are original and need parts carbs are off and have carb no.

Well, easiest is go to wrecker get the orig carb and installed it. Can also Google the part and see who has it else go to eBay and scour, perhaps somebody somewhere has them.
