Yes. Once you remove the engine cover and expose the shaft and seal, carefully pry the old seal out with a small flat blade screwdriver. Apply some grease to the inside diameter of the new seal, slide it over the shift shaft (clean it first) - and press it in place.

I have a 2005 CRF 80. The shift lever has stripped the knerling on the shift rod coming from the gear box. Is this a difficult repair or can the shift lever be welded on?

To fix it properly you need to strip the engine You can just weld it on but cool with water as the seal will melt It isn't good welding it on as they do tend to snap the weld sooner or later. But nothing to loose if it keeps breaking you just replace the worn shaft anyway

Oil leak around shifter

needs new seal most bearing companys can match it up or buy new one online easy way to remove the seal is remove shift lever drill small hole ner shift rod threw the seal dont go to far just make it threw the seal scew a long scre into it and pull out using vice grips if screw pulls out and not the seal use bigger screw or drill new hole to re install new seal use deep well socket that is same diameter as seal and lightly tap seal in place with socket and hammer make sure you clean shift rod first and apply grease to seal to help it slide in smoothly

Oil is leaking from the shifter shaft on my 2005 1200R. Is there a seal or bushing that needs to be replaced?

There is a seal right behind the shifter. You can replace this seal without having to pull anything more than the shift lever off the shaft. Loosen and remove the bolt. Mark the case or something so that you can remember where to put the shifter back on and remove the shifter from the shaft. Using a screwdriver slip it between the seal and the shaft and work the seal out of the cover. Try not to scar up the shaft or the case. Once you have it out, slip the new seal over the shaft with it facing in the propter direction and use a deep well socket or something to drive the new seal into the cover. Replace the shifter and put the bolt back in. This should stop your leak.

Good Luck

I have an oil leak at the gear shifter how do you replace the rubber seal 1995 honda goldwing se craig

Putting it bluntly, remove the case cover, pry the old seal out any way you can without buggering up the case then slide a new seal onto the shift shaft and seat it in the cavity. The only other way is to remove the shift shaft and then pry out the old seal. Sort of the same thing but a bit more mannerly.
