You must pick the speed that the CD allows. As long as you can play burnt cds in your car then any write speed will do. Try a cd in a different player if it doesn't work lowwer speed. If it does then your eclipse doesn't play burnt cd's. Also the format of Cd matters you might be burning an mp3 cd instead of a conventional cd and mp3 cds only work in players that support it.

Downloaded new version of itunes now i cant burn cds

you have to set the process up again Burning CDs in iTunes is easy and requires no setup.
But if you are an advanced user, you may want to tweak the settings a bit. Here's how you can set CD burning preferences in iTunes:

Open up iTunes on your computer. Click Edit and then select Preferences. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Burning tab within the Advanced tab. Set your preferred speed. From the drop-down menu, choose a burn speed for your CD burner. Choose a format. Audio CDs are for playing in your stereo or CD player. MP3 CDs can hold more songs, but need a special type of CD player to be read. Data CDs are for backing up songs, and can only be read by computers. Choose a gap between songs. By default, iTunes puts a gap of silence between each song. You can change this option from the drop-down menu. Use the Sound Check feature. This option will automatically adjust the volume on your songs so they will be the same volume on the CD. Include the CD text option. This will give the CD the title of the playlist to be displayed by a stereo or CD player that supports CD text. Click OK to save your preferences.

Why do i get format error when i put songs from a cd on the eclipse?

Hi,

1. Why do i get format error when i put songs from a cd on the eclipse?
= This is probably because the format that your songs are currently in is not supported by your device. Supported devices on the Mach Speed Eclipse 180 MP3 player are: mp3, wav, and wma. If your music is for example filename.cda, it won't be able to play because of the file format being .cda.

2. I also see the song on the eclipse but it says drm protected and will not play the song.
= When ripping your music, check your ripping options in whichever ripping software you are using that protecting music files is off, this may be the reason why your music cannot play - it may be protected to only play on the computer that ripped(recorded or duplicated) the song.

I HAVE AN ECLIPSE 180 AND IT SAYS IT'S COMPATABLE WITH ITUNES BUT IT SYNCS AND SAYS ITS DOWN LOADED BUT WON'T PUT IT IN THE LOCAL FOLDER IT IS IN THE EXCHANGE DATA FOLDER AND I CANT PLAY THE SONGS....

The Mach Speed Eclipse 180 isn't compatible with ITunes despite what you heard. However all hope isn't lost.

If you are using Microsoft windows simply use the sync feature in Windows Media Player.
If you are using a mac, the player displays as a removable device, simply drag the music into the mp3 or music folder.

Now Eject your device and have fun!

My front loader reads disc error or unplayable no matter what disc I insert. It worked just fine for about 2 years. It doesn ot get heavy cd use, but everyday radio/alarm use.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:
  • The Wave® music system is designed to play commercial CDs, CD-Rs, MP3-encoded CDS and CD-RWs. If your system has trouble playing MP3 CDs, make sure the discs were recorded with compatible formats. See Cannot play MP3 CDs

  • The system may not be able to play certain CD-RW discs. Playability is dependant on how the disc was recorded, including the format it was recorded in and the actual disc used for recording.
Note: iTunes defaults to AAC as the encoding format. In order to use iTunes to make CDs that will play on the Wave® music system, you’ll need to change the format to MP3 How to Choose Import Options

  • Different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs use different materials which may affect the ability of a player to read them. If you are burning your own CD-Rs or CD-RWs, experiment with different brands of discs

  • If a commercial disc won’t play, check for scratches, fingerprints or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in

I keep getting cancelled CD burns off of iTunes and Windows Media

I had that error befor I was burning with Memorex's 52x CD-R... when I switched to a Maxell's CD-R, the error was gone! And I left the burn speed at 'maximum'. It did it in about 4minutes. Good luck!
