I had the same problem with my sportsman 500, I replaced the cdi box and still wouldn't start then I replaced the stator, and still didn't start, then I checked my pulse coil air gap and it worked perfect after that. 0.016 to 0.040 inch sometimes the metal clip that holds the pulse coil gets slight off I guess from viberation. Mine was still tight I had took a flathead screwdriver and slightly bent the pulse coil to the proper guage. Hope this helps

Just replaced new gears and the stater in a 2005 polaris 90 sportsman,,revs up fine in neutral,,but once in gear loses power and want pull ,then dies if you keep trying,,starts right back up no problem

I know virtually nothing about a 2005 Polaris 90 Sportsman, but your problem sounds like it could be a fuel starvation problem. Check the fuel filter (assuming it has one!). Good luck!

1995 polaris 425 magnum wont start

try cranking it with your hand completely blocking the carb intake for a few cranks. that sometimes helps blow out the passages.

Our Polaris Sportsman 500 battery died. We tried to pull start it and it jerked and pulled out of my hands. Now we can't pull it at all. Seems stuck at a high compression. Any help?

maybe the battery is ok but the problem is a lock in the engine --hydraulic lock, crank seizure ,bent conrod
bent valve hitting on piston top

Why does my Sportsman 400 start by the pull cord, but will not start with the ignition. It turns over fine.

replace the battery as there is not enough charge to start and provide power for the ignition
when you pull start the max power is provided to the ignition system

While riding my oil filter came loose and i lost about half my oil. The bike stopped running but would turn over just fine. I put oil back in it after tighten up my filter but it still wont start,

Have you checked to see if you are getting spark at the plug? Look in your manual to see if there is a low oil pressure safety shut down switch that has to be reset.
