I dont think kawasaki do paint codes go to a auto paint supplier and get a colour match,if it is not right you usually get a second match for free.or contact a quality motorcycle paint spray company they may have the code sorted from past jobs.

I painted light gray that now looks lavender on the wall...I am pretty sure it is the lighting in the room (CFL bulbs) as when I take the roller into another room with natural light or fluorescent lighting...

I painted for many years. And now work with photoshop each day.
The selected grey was probably in the blue family instead of yellow family. Most interior colors look better if they come from the warm yellow family, including greys.
There are greys for every color in the spectrum ... from yellow to red to blue. If you pick a grey with bit of red, it will start to look mauve. Orange and it will look brown. Blues inside the grey will turn purple real quick.
Moreover, all colors and finishes are contextual and pick up surrounding colors. Especially satin-or-shiny finishes, because they pick up local colors that change intended hue. For example blue drapes will turn white room bluish. If the house next door is red, and the light comes in window, it will turn white room into pink. Green leaves, and the light from window turn white room green. So when you pick a grey that has bit of blue, the color can change for many reasons beside light bulb. Each room is totally different.
Most folks pick colors by looking at color chip in the store, instead of painting a section of wall inside home. And most folks do not ask the paint store clerk which tints are in that particular color. Sometimes the black tint will turn some bases into a bluish hue.
Go back to paint store and get another grey color from the yellow spectrum.

I bought the beautiful RED surefire grill (love it) But just this past week see paint coming up What is that all about? It is quite a big chip that is coming off

That is easy. The manufacturer screwed up with the paint job. Im assuming that you used the grill this past week and the heat is heating the metal. When you heat metal it expands and then cools it contracts. This effect causes paint to contract and expand the same. Paint however is not ment to do this. Thats where you are getting the peel look.

Hope it helps. You should be able to return it to the store but i think it is probally a product defect not just your grill. This is why you normally see grills that dingy grey/black color.

To my astonishment, my Yamaha dealer says he cannot supply touch up paint due to EC regulations on transport. I'm told by a paint expert he can supply paint if I have the paint code. The bike is an FZ6...

Go to any paint store that sells auto paint and have it matched up. I had them match up my faded Cougar and it was a perfect match, bought one qt no problem. I don't know the paint codes, but they have them. Hope this helps.

Im a painter in a body shop and we have problems replacing the chip guard on the sides of toyota tacoma trucks its reel thick but a smooth finish

Spies Hecker has a waterbourne chip guard that you can reduce up to 10% and spray it thru a paint gun 7100 or 7104 grey or black it goes on green then dries to the color. It matches perfect to paint over

Drip pans no longer available in black, just in grey

Yes you can spray paint them black. Just be sure to get high temperature black paint, like what you might use for a gas grill. Home Depot, Lowes, most any hardware store will have it in stock.
