I hope you had your bike stored in a well heated garage.if not then the damp has got into all the important parts .if it starts & runs well then there is just general work to be done ,New plugs and an air filter may be needed ,a good check of the brakes and fresh fuel will help .and plenty of W / D 40 on parts like levers and cables .choke lever and linkage.Air in tyres and a battery check .

If you go to durantcycle.com and then online parts fiche then motorcycles then honda and the year and model then find the carbs there is a good diagram for the carb there from honda.

Back fires when i let off the throttle

That's most likely caused by the PAIR valve system. Read up on how to solve that on VTXCAFE.com. I did this on my 2007 VTX 1300C

3900ml, you should try some of the Castrol V-Twin oil, good stuff.
