I have a 1996 dodge grand caravan with 8 speakers. Im hooking up a kenwood stereo but I can only get 4 speakers to turn on. How do I get the other 4 to turn on?

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2010

I am using an adapter harness. All the wires are hooked up. the 4 speakers that don't come on are the infinity amplifed speakers. there is one black with a green line wire that comes from the speakers. it grounded on the back of the factory radio. and when I hook up the factory radio and plug in the black/green line wire the amped 4 speakers do come on. But when i hook up the kenwood and ground the black/green line wire it doesnt come on. Not sure what to do next. I know on a regular amp the music gets fed through rca cables. But how does it work in this case with just one black/green lined wire? Thank you so much for your help.

are you using an adapter harness? there could be an amp turn-on wire that needs power or ground, usually black/white (ground); blue/white or blue (power). what four are working?

I have a 1999 dodge grand caravan and the stereo cuts out when its turned up and bass hits. im wondering if its the internal amp and if it is where i can find it to change it

Are you sure ALL the speakers are connected? Sometimes when a speaker connection rattles loose, that will over heat the amp when it's turned up. Sounds like an internal circuit breaker that is getting too hot.

I have a 1996 Dodge Intrepid. I just installed a radio in the car using the Wal-Mart wiring harness, but when I turn on the radio, I have to turn it all the way up to hear the music, and its all treble....

that aftermarket radio may require different ohm speakers than whats in the car. open trunk and look at speaker magnets they will have the ohms printed on them if they dont say 4 or 8 ohms then they are incompatable with your stereo and may damage it if ohms are lower than 4 ohms. also make sure your radio balnce tone fader settings are correct. some of these new radios are so comlicated with that stuff it requires a 100 page book just to operate it.

Need wiring schematics for a 1996 dodge caravan stereo hooking a new one up but dont know what wire is what theres no diagram on the stereo

Save yourself some hassle & buy the adapter to go from Chrysler harness to generic, from same place as stereo or any auto parts place that sells stereos/radios, should have them.
