You need to check the fuses first with a continuity tester then the 12v DC out at the edge of the PCB, if you can read 12vdc then you have a component failure if not then the rectifier has popped.

(The AC transformer supplies an AC output of say 16v and it is then rectified and smoothed before going to the pcb)

If you have had the same backup battery in for more than 3 years it may have popped that circuit

    Take off the main cover

Enter the code to stop the alarm

Look for a 20mm glass fuse

Normally there are two sometimes three depending on issue

You need to remove them from their holders to check them

Transformer output power singer quantum stilyst 9960

The transformer is protected by a fuse and if that is not the problem then you have to order the whole power supply unit from singer. The transformer is not available separately. If there are any numbers on the transformer please post and I will see if it can locate one. The issue is some manufacturers use custom wound units. Otherwise buy the whole thing: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/power-circuit-unit-singer-416401701.aspx

I just moved to France and brought my Juki TL-2010Q from the USA. I plugged it in with a European adaptor and it blew the fuse? Is it fixable? Where do I get a replacement fuse? Thank you! Suzanne

Did you mean an 'adaptor' (as in two-pin to 3-pin) or a transformer ?
It is a DIFFERENT electrical system in Europe to the USA.
The USA is 110v and Europe is 240 or 220v. The machine is
probably burned out. You would need to take it to a dealer to be checked. You can ONLY use USA electrical equipment with a TRANSFORMER, so that it can function on the different European electrical system. Good luck !

Display does not light up on PFAFF 1475 CD

These instructions apply to PFAFF 1475 CD. They may also work for other machines.
If you have some advanced electronic repair skills and tools, check the following:
For 220 Volts models - there is a fuse next to the power input, make sure it is good. There is no such a fuse for 120 Volts model.
If the fuse is Okay, you have to get access to the main circuit board by removing the bottom cover.
Check the primary on the transformer for 120 V AC (220 V AC respectively). Check the secondary side for 5 V AC (luminescent display), 9 V AC (turns to 5 V DC by rectifier, 4700 micro farads capacitor and a 5 V regulator STI L387A) and 28 V AC (turns to 35 V DC by rectifier and 2200 micro farads capacitor.
Pay attention to two soldered round fuses in series with the secondary 9 V and 28 V - both should be good. On the big capacitors you should have 9 V DC and 35 V DC.
Common symptoms for bad small 22 micro farads capacitors next to the some of the IC's - there are 5 of these: These capacitors are in parallel with 5 V DC.
## All of the LEDs light up but the display is blank
## All of the LEDs light up, the display is blank, and after a minute no LEDs at all
## No LEDs nor display.
Replace ALL five 22 micro farads capacitors using a good desoldering pump or desoldering station!.
Enjoy your resurrected PFAFF 1475 CD machine!!!
I just did this procedure on my aunt's one (Made in West Germany around 1990).

Change 220v to 110v

You will need a transformer. If the appliance is 220V to start with, you need a step-up tranformer, that is, 110V supply UP to 220V output. The other way round, a step-down transformer.

They are sold at hardware outlets and electronics suppliers like RadioShack.

My Pfaff 1471 lights up, but does not run. This model has no fuse. I checked the foot pedal with an ohm meter, & it sends a variable signal. My house took a direct lightning strike 2 weeks ago, &...

Were the base plate pugs into the power leads, you should read about 6-18 is ohms. Open and short is a bad transformer.

Also there are fuses, 2-3 right next to the transformer, small blueish and round are the shapes. They go bad often.

The Husqvarna 980 Prism was working fine and then switched off. After a few minutes it came back on, then after about 15 minutes sewing it went off again and I have not been able to start it.

Hi,

Most probably it has blown a fuse in the transformer. The transformer is under the machine that is secured by four screws. Take this out and release the transformer out, it will still be hooked to the connecting wires, so you need to carefully disconnect them. Once you open the transformer you will see a small fuse, you need to replace the fuse.

Please get back to us if you have any further query.

Have a nice day.

When I turned on my viking 980, the power went on for a moment and then went completely dead. Checked that outlet has power, all connections are made securely.

More than likely it blew the fuse in the transformer, although it is fairly easy to replace this fuse it is important to find out why it blew. The transformer is under the machine and held in place by 4 screws. Take this out and ease the transformer out, it will still be hooked to the connecting wires just gently disconected them. Once you open the transformer you will see a small fuse, you can take it to radio shack and get an EXACT replacement.
I have fixed 100s of these of the last 25 years
