I get excessive vibration in my 06 Street Glide fairing at idle.

I get excessive vibration in my fairing at idle. I have replaced the front motor mount and it seems better but is not as good as other touring models I have owned. Is there a way to improve this further?

If you are compairing Harley to Goldwing don't. Harley's shake at idle, period. Gold Wings are the smoothest and quietest tureing bike ever. Honda tried to copy HD, we know what happened with that, But they far exceeded them when it came to smooth and quiet. I don't have an answer,

My dealer just told me that this is very common and wants to charge me (4) x $75 for each bracket and (3) x $75 an hour labor. This is ********, if Harley was Toyoda they would be slammed all over the news for not recalling and paying for the fix. This is my last Harley. Anyone want a deal on an 07 denim blue street glide with 8,000 miles? [email protected]

I have a 2006 Street Glide that vibrates so much that I had to replace the fairing brackets twice .It became obvious there was an ongoing problem. The engine configuration was not compatible with the frame. My engine was essentially rebuilt and the problem remains . Spent twenty grand plus on my last Harley .Piece of garbage !

SOURCE: 2009 Street glide idles poorly, strong gas smell, stalls

The 09 models come with a "parade" mode which causes the rear cyclinder to quit firing when idling in traffic etc to combat over heating. You should be able to kick it on by rolling the throttle grip FORWARD for 5 to 10 seconds. Have you changed the pipes or air filter? If you have and never had the EFI adjusted (either factory download or fuel tuner installed) your bike could be running extra rich causing the over heating and eventual engine destruction. New Harleys run rich from the factory, any changes to the intake/exhaust system without proper fuel injection management will cause overheating. Try getting your bike into parade mode by rolling the throttle forward to the stops for a few seconds, that will cool things down.

High speed wobble

Speed wobbles can be caused by incorrectly adjusted steering head bearings. If the wobble comes in at the same speed on a straight road then look at wheel balancing as it may be a wheel hop you are feeling and not a wobble. Speed wobbles is when bike starts moving left to right to left and so on. Balance problems is when an up/down vibration is felt and always at the same speed. Another problem can be that the fairing support brackets inside the fairing have broken. This is a common fault on Harleys and there is an updated part when replacing them. I repair them by Tig welding and beefing up the area where they crack. If the fairing seems to be vibrating excessively at idle and you can move it then check this for sure.

The cd player on my 06 street glide(harmon kardon) skips with minnimal road vibration

1-check condition of CD
2-be sure fairing brackets on bike are not broken
3-be sure riser bolts are not making contact with the bottom of the radio

if all of the above are OK, it's either a defective CD drive or bad SDRAM circuit (40 second buffer memory). The unit will need to be repaired. For repair options, contact Iron Cross Audio. www.ironcrossaudio.com

I just purchased a 2007 Street Glide (traded a Heritage Softail) and it seems to vibrate excessively at idle. Perhaps I'm just not accustomed to it yet. Your thoughts?

the touring models are going to vibrate or more so shake at and idle more than your softail.the one major difference in your twin cam "B" engine and twin cam 96" A engine is that the softail is counter balanced in the crank case and is also a solid mount engine. straight engine to frame.these two counter balancer's are chain driven off of the crank. the street glide has three rubber mounts on it, one being in the front where the wish bone or down tubes turn inder the bike and two in cleave blocks that are alighned by small pins to be located in the correct position the swing arm also uses these in mounting the swing arm. so you will notice at around 75 mph to 80 mph you may get a "rider known death wobble" (just slow down) there are after market braces in all ranges of price to solve that problem. the more expensive the better it will last and work.

How do you take off the front fairing?

take off the front headlamp, unplug head lamp, remove windshield, remove screws along outer edges of inner fairing, there are 2 screws at the bottom inside the triple tree. This should remove it for you, i have done it several times adding speakers, garage opener, replacing bulbs, etc.

I have a 2003 dyna lowrider and i want to mount a bat wing and hard bags to it make it into a street glide is it posibile got the bat wing iner and outer off 98 modle

Since you have the so called "narrow-glide" front end, like a Sportster, you would find the same fairing as used on FLHX to be huge and not good for handling (excessive bulk). It would also require special brackets. Look at the Hoppe "VanillaZilla" aftermarket kit -- not cheap! -- for your narrow glide. As far as hard bags, there are various aftermarket kits available.
