If you have power going to the coil but no spark, you've got something wrong with the "triggering" circuit of you ignition system.

One other thing, if your engine is the TC88 engine, (first year of production for some models) it probably has a "compression sensor" on it. If you have no compression, you will not have any spark. If you have your plugs out of the engine, you have no compression. So, screw a set of plugs into the engine, leave another set in the wires and grounded against the engine to test the spark.

The "triggering system" uses the signal from the ignition timing sensor that is located in the "nose cone" of the engine. Check this wiring from the ignition unit's "Black box" to the sensor. I seem to remember a plug that plugs in for this unit.

I'm afraid that this is about the only help I can give you with a stock ignition unit as I usually work with either earlier igniton systems or aftermarket units. I have very little experience with "stock" Harley units.

2000 FLHCUI Police edition. Having a problem where the bike shuts down then seems to start back up. Today at a stop light bike shut down no power of any kind. New battery on bike checked connections....

Sounds like a main circuit breaker tripping. That's going to be tough to find. It's an intermittent short somewhere. This would be my "best guess".

I am still wondering which harness boot to choose for my motorcycle ride

hi
i am sure you love your bike even i do :) .so i can understand your problem . usally when you have a macho bike your boots should match it .but just shoes alone wont help even your dress should go accordin to it and this again depends on your bike colour .so take all the three in to consideration
1) bike color
2) your dress color
2) then the shoes color
ok here are few shoes i suggest

Harley Davidson men's elpaso black/brown
Harley Davidson men's hustin
Harley Davidson men's brake light
Harley Davidson mens's shift
Harley Davidson mens's havoc

If you are happy with my answer please vote four thumbs up. Thank you

Directions from start to finish the complete wiring of a 1999 Harley Davidson FXSTC Softail Custom Motorcycle

http://www.jpcycles.com/product/380-879

Jp has the harness and easy to follow instructions, if you already have
the harness, and the old one is still on the bike. you could strip down
and tag each wire before pulling harness . use old harness to apply
new harness , everything will be the same. some connections may
need to be added, but this is minor .

Where can i learn on line about a 1999 harley police bike?

You can visit and become a member of various forums. If you are wanting to learn hw to repair and service the bike, well the service manual from the dealer is a good start, but it is not an instruction manual on all tasks. You are going to make mistakes and some will be costly. If you are just seek information about bike that is a different story, just go to the forums.

Rewireing 93 harley davidson FXLR to 96 Handle bar

On the handlebar switches, Harley hasn't changed the color code scheme very much over the years but you really need a good schematic to know exactly how they are wired up. If you can find either a Harley service manual for a 96 model or a Clymer's manual, it would be helpful. I have a schmatic for a 94 FXDWG that should be alright for your 93 FXR but you need a schmatic for a 96 model bike.
