3 things can make a engine run hot

1 lean fuel mixture

2 late in spark timing

3 timing chian is stretched

1 check spark plug colour to determine if burning lean

2 advance timing, on points turn plate but eletronic need to change pick-coil loaction

3 adjust chain tensioner or major overhaul replace chain, would need to get a manual for this repair

My Buick version 2012 ac cuts off cuz of engine over heating why is it doing that when fan stays on even after the car sits for a while

How long do they run after you shut the engine off ? Some will run for a set time after engine shut down according to how hot the engine is and the system design .

Overheating and studering

fix overheating first.

but on some cars, (all really) the cooling system can be MARGINAL.

eg; RAD tubes clogged.

and you dont know that.

then the ECU gets in an uproar, and sets DTCs and the CEL glows

and is now in limphome mode (is cel glowing running?)

so in limphome , the spark timing is way retarded dumping a huge

heat load on the water jackets, and now overheats

in limp home the sparks gurn black it misfires and overheats.

all early ,90s. cars did this, in 1996 its way less, many mech, never seen this cuz never see 90s cars, 88 is first ive seen. that can do this. carbs dont. before.

step 1: (do that skipped 60k tune up,now, SURE)

check all fuse.

step 2, is the CEL lamp glowing key on, no fix that because

The ecu has an ever more dumb mode, called BACKUP

backup the CEL goes DEAD and HUGE heat load. and black smoke.

step 3, CEL glows, i run engine and its still glowing

insert the diagnostic jumper (paper clip works easy) and get the FLASHING error codes. now.

My chevy blazer it hasnt overheated all the way to the red zone but i think cuz i dont let it cuz when i see the gadget go 3/4 high it is the red zone left and i turn off the engine before it gets worse...

I had my chevy s10 overheat due to poor air circulation through the cooling fins on the rad. I looked on the outside of the rad and found that the cooling fins were plugged solid with dirt and rocks. I removed the rocks and dirt using a hose and dental pick, and the overheating problem stopped. As long as the cooling system isn't leaking, I can't think of another reason for it to lose coolant.

Timing

You can't make youtr tach work and you don't know "where the timing should be" - I think you're better off letting someone else do it.

Engine noise

Well, if the low-oil-pressure warning light is on, and the engine is knocking, and there is plenty oil in the crankcase, then the oil pump must not be circulating oil thru the engine. So, I agree -- I think your oil pump is bad.

The timing belt broke on my 95 eclipse gs how can i fix it??

I believe that you have what is called an 'interference engine', that means that if the timing belt breaks, the valves hit the pistons, and basically, the engine is junk at that point, as it would cost more to attempt to fix than to purchase a used or rebuilt engine.
