Two other things to try. Make sure the battery terminal connectors are absolutely free of buildup. Then place your battery on a long slow charge. If it is not sealed, checkto make sure plates are all well covered with distilled water.

Finally, hook the battery charger up to the battery and move the selector up to start, say 50 amps. Try that. If you still have nothing but clicks, and all bolts and nuts are tight, time to look at the starter itself.

I need location of starter relay switch on my 95 chevy corsica. Put new starter/solenoid and new battery with 750 cranking amps and it tries to start but wont

What do you mean , tries to start ? When you turn the key to start what happens ? Starter clicks , starter spins the engine around . Doesn't start an run . ,what ? Now it just so happens that your vehicle does not have a relay switch . Does the car have automatic trans . or manual ? Power from the ignition switch goes through the park neutral position switch to the starter solenoid S terminal for auto trans , An through the clutch pedal position switch for a manual trans .

Your best bet , have a qualified repair shop check it out .

Got a db50qt-16 directbikes it wont start off the electric start !

Hi, I would start by checking there is a click when the button is pressed, if that is ok then that means the starter relay is ok, then I would put some jump leads and use another battery, just to make shore your battery is discharging enough power, if it still doesn't work take out the starter motor and connect it to the battery just to see if it is ok

Pump newly installed, when turned on the display lights up, the light works but when I press the JETS button, all I hear is a click, the pump does not run

See if you can verify that the hi speed post in the motor has been hooked up electrically. (It happens)
Then put a meter on it when hi speed is activated to verify that the motor is getting proper voltage. If it is, the motor is the problem.
If the hi speed post is not getting voltage the problem may be with the relay.
When the button is pushed the relay contacts supply voltage to the hi speed post in the motor. If those contacts are burned out or the relay is not working correctly the motor will not get proper voltage to the right place.

Honda scv 100 won't electric start, but the lights work fine. How do I fix it?

Hi,
Check the starter relay in the battery compartment. Look at the relays terminals and clean it, test it by means of activating the electric starter, a clicking sound should be heard, if not replace the relay. If there is a clicking sound and motor would not run, the starter motor have a problem.
Try Youtube for video repairing of that starter. just type the model and problem of your scooter in their search box.
Hope that helps you out.

Hi, i have a 2000 sprint rs. it wont start at the moment, the relay clicks when the button is pressed but nothing else. i think i know what the problem is; the horn does not work either and it shares an...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The click of the relay is significant if it came from the starter relay. It would indicate that the contacts of the starter relay are not allowing power from the battery to flow to the starter motor. To check, temporarily jumper the 2 terminals of the starter relay; the starter motor should spin. To locate the starter relay, follow the big cable from the battery's + terminal. It would end up tied to 1 of the 2 terminals.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Starter not turning after winter. battery was removed/charg

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If the starter motor will not turn, a few ideas to consider:
  • the starter motor is actually switched by the starter relay. The starter relay is switched by the start button;
  • on pressing the start button there would be an audible click, that would be the starter relay;
  • the starter relay will only work if the sidestand is down, the bike is in neutral and the engine switch is on. These are the interlocks/safeguards;
  • to locate the starter relay, follow the cable from the + terminal of the battery;
  • press on the start button, the starter relay should click;
  • if starter motor will not turn, jumper the two big terminals of the starter relay using a wrench. Do it on the nuts not on the threaded portion;
  • if the starter motor engages, then the starter relay is faulty;
  • if there is no click from the starter relay, either it is faulty or any of the interlocks is preventing it from working;
  • if there is click but the starter will not spin and then will spin when the terminals are jumped, then the contacts of the starter relay are faulty;
  • if even jumping the terminals, the starter motor will not turn, then it wold be a defective starter motor, most likely the carbon brushes.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

With the indulgence of goofduck...

If what you are referring to as "it wont start" means it will not crank, then it would be either as what goofduck posted or the starter relay. On the next instance of it will not start:
  • locate the starter relay (follow the + cable from the battery);
  • Press on the start button, there should be an audible click;
  • While still pressing on the start button, short with a wrench the 2 big terminals underneath the rubber cap (on the nuts not on the threaded portions).
Results:
  • if there is no click when pressing on the start button, either the relay is faulty or the interlocks (most likely) or the start button (less likely) are faulty;
  • if the starter motor would engage, then the starter relay is faulty, more specifically the high current contacts;
  • if the starter motor will not engage, then the motor would be faulty.

Would appreciate a postback on results of tests or updates on any developments.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Ktm 520 2000 Model STARTER PROBLEM

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, determine if there is a clicking sound when the START button is pressed. The click is significant. If there is, this indicates that the starting relay is engaging but for some reason, the starter motor is not cranking. This could either indicate a faulty starter relay (particularly the contacts) or a faulty starter motor (specifically, the carbon brushes). To determine which:
  • with the side covers off, expose the starter relay particularly the 2 large terminals;
  • have somebody start the bike normally using the key and button start switch;
  • determine if indeed the clicking is coming from the starter relay;
  • while the start button is still pressed, jump the 2 big terminals;
  • if the engine cranks, then the internal contacts of the starter relay are corroded or burned;
  • if the engine will not crank, then the starter motor is faulty.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
